Tonight’s episode of “Sullivan’s Crossing” deftly juxtaposed the chaos of the approaching hurricane with the turmoil brewing between the characters, resulting in a captivating moment filled with tension and revelation.
The plot picks up directly where we left off, with Maggie and Carl arriving at the hospital amidst the chaos of the emergency services, only to discover it was all a false alarm. However, this lighthearted mood doesn’t last long when they learn that Sully was misdiagnosed and subsequently ran away with Frank. Maggie told doctors that her Alzheimer’s diagnosis was wrong and that Sully didn’t have a stroke at all. Instead, he was dealing with a vitamin B1 deficiency caused by alcohol. This sets off a chain reaction between Maggie, Edna, Sidney and Lola, who need to find Sully quickly so he can return to the hospital for treatment.
As the hurricane approaches, everyone’s attention turns to safety at Sullivan’s Crossing. During these preparations, viewers get a deeper look into Carl’s past, as he reveals to Maggie his childhood with an angry father and his role as a peacekeeper to his siblings. Personal insights into Carl’s past provide insight into his calm demeanor and his ability to navigate complex situations.

Tensions rise when Maggie gets a call from Andrew, who becomes jealous after hearing Carl’s voice. It’s clear that despite Andrew’s claims to change, his old patterns persist. Likewise, Laura’s behavior in this episode highlights her destructive power over Carl and Maggie’s budding relationship. Her flirtation with Carl, coupled with her decision to shelter a pregnant camper, reveals how her outer persona belies her malevolent inner motives. Lola confides in Carl her deep respect for Sully, but also mentions Sully’s need to treat the people at Crossroads like family, stemming from his own family’s abandonment – something Maggie overhears dialogue.
As Maggie packs away the outdoor furniture in preparation for the storm at the outpost, she recalls a tender moment between her and Sully when he expresses his pride in her. She confides in Sydney about Laura’s comments and reveals the newspaper clippings she found at Sally’s home, which highlighted his concern for her and prompted her to reflect on the impact of her departure on him. Seeking more insight, Maggie asks Edna how Sully met Frank. Edna explains that Frank is his sponsor, but advises Maggie to discuss it with him directly, emphasizing Sully’s reluctance to share his struggles with alcoholism for fear of raising concerns because of his proud nature.

Frank and Sully share a deeply personal journey, unaware of the impending storm. Sally confides in Frank about his failing memory, prompting Frank to agree to travel to a place that might help him remember. At their destination, an old fishing house they once frequented, Sally and Frank opened their hearts to each other. Sully expresses his concerns to Frank because he doesn’t want to forget important moments, such as Maggie’s first words. Frank, for his part, shared his own painful past experience growing up on the reservation and how he was treated like an outcast. He reveals what happened in Alberta, that he wanted his mother’s crown but his cousin gave it away, a story he admits he didn’t share with Edna. Frank offers guidance and encourages Sully to use meditation to calm his troubled mind.
The episode adds layers to Frank’s character as he imparts the wisdom of healing from within, even as the storm worsens so does the urgency of returning home. The moment of truth comes as Frank prepares to drive his truck home and Sully discovers a bottle of wine. On the verge of giving in to old habits, he recalls an accident he caused involving Lola, leading him to confess the incident to Frank, revealing the guilt he’s been carrying for years. Now that Sully’s secret is out, it’s sure to have a ripple effect among the residents of Crossroads. Find out who sides with him when all is said and done, and when Lola learns that the man she considered like a father figure to her was the one who negatively impacted the trajectory of her life , it will be interesting to see how she reacts.

As the storm intensified, chaos spread across the intersection. Sidney becomes anxious because she hasn’t heard from Rob in several hours, and Rob is supposed to be delivering a backup generator to the outpost, but she doesn’t show up. Meanwhile, Maggie visits veteran Pete in his camper to urge him to evacuate, only to discover that he is suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), repeatedly expressing his need to return to his daughter. He reluctantly agrees to travel with Maggie to the outpost to seek refuge. However, their journey takes a dangerous turn when Molly the dog suddenly escapes, leading Maggie and Pete into the storm on a dangerous search. Meanwhile, Rob, Finn, and Rafe (whom they rescued from a truck stuck in the mud) arrive at the outpost, and Carl discovers that Maggie is missing. He goes out with Rafe to find her. The episode reaches a cliffhanger when Maggie is hit by falling debris during a storm, leaving the audience in suspense as the screen fades to black. Showrunner Roman Ross, known as the master of suspense, strikes again. It’s hard for viewers to wait a whole week to find out how this event will affect Maggie and her unborn baby.
The episode effectively interweaves personal struggles and external dangers, weaving them into a narrative that deftly foreshadows the tumultuous impact the hour-long revelations will have on each character. This is a key part of the season and sets the stage for the rocky road ahead. Sullivan’s Crossing fans, it’s over to you! Do you think Maggie’s injuries will cause her to lose her baby?
