The latest episode of Sullivan’s Crossing brings viewers back to the gripping drama with the intensity that fans of the show have come to love. There were a lot of heavy themes in this hour, including Sully finally coming clean to Laura about his big story. This incident is sure to have a ripple effect on everyone at the intersection.
Picking up from the previous episode, Carl’s sister Sedona experiences a harrowing seizure at the outpost. Luckily, Maggie is there to help and Carl insists on taking Sedona to the hospital, but she refuses and the tension is palpable. Meghan Ory’s portrayal of Sedona’s epileptic seizures is masterful, with a performance that is lifelike and emotionally charged.
The next day, Carl moved Sedona to his cabin, fearing for her health. Their sibling relationship is heartwarming but also fraught with underlying tension. Carl confronts Sedona about her honesty, and it turns out this wasn’t her first seizure, leading to the possibility that her condition was a so-called “pseudoseizure” – which doctors dismiss as psychogenic and Stress-related attacks. Sedona’s struggles become even more apparent when Maggie discovers that Sedona is hallucinating and thinks she’s covered in bugs, a harrowing scene that Maggie handles with commendable calm.

Subsequent discussions between Carl, Maggie, and Sedona about mental health and potential genetic links to schizophrenia add layers to the characters’ backstories, making them even more relatable. One of the most touching moments of the episode comes when Carl opens up to Maggie about his fear of inheriting his father’s schizophrenia, which drove his decision not to have children. This vulnerability and honesty resonated with Maggie, who now understands better why Carl didn’t want to start a family. He didn’t want his children to go through what he and his father had gone through.
Concerns about Sedona grew when Maggie took a simple cognitive test, which revealed disturbing results showing inflammation in Sedona’s brain. Sedona confided in her husband about her illness and decided it was best to return home to her family. She also agreed to follow up with the specialist Maggie recommended. Before leaving, Carl apologized for not being there for his wife during her grief. They share a touching moment where Sedona points out that Carl is in love with Maggie. Carl admits that while he does have feelings for Maggie, he doesn’t believe he can give her the family she wants. Sedona assured him that he would be a great father. Her words resonated with Carl, prompting him to contact his mother and leave her a message after a long estrangement.

The introduction of Sedona’s character gives viewers a deeper look into Carl’s backstory, adding complexity to his character and revealing his motivations and actions. Sedona is a fantastic addition to the season and hopefully this isn’t the last we see of her.
Meanwhile, a subplot involving Phoebe, Sully and Maggie sharing a family breakfast provides a heartwarming respite from the episode’s heavy themes. In this episode, Phoebe and Sully grow closer as they reminisce about the good times they had together. Despite the way their marriage ultimately ended, Phoebe felt truly happy at Crossroads. Returning made her realize that life in Boston with Walter did not bring her the same happiness. Sully and Phoebe’s kiss stirs up nostalgia and unresolved emotional issues, but Walt’s arrival complicates the situation. The mixed reactions to Walt’s plea for forgiveness exposed the deep-seated trauma his actions had inflicted on his family.
Tensions come to a head when Phoebe decides to leave with Walter, leaving Maggie and Sully in an emotional struggle over her choice. Walt has always had control over Phoebe, and this moment is no different. Phoebe, like Maggie, tends to let her head rule her heart. Despite knowing that being with Walter would not make her happy, she returned to him because she believed it was the right thing to do. Earlier in the episode, Sally talked about the similarities between Phoebe and Maggie, and he couldn’t be more accurate.

The drama didn’t stop there. Edna and Frank’s relationship remains strained due to his feud with his family, and his stubbornness continues to get in the way. Rob did try to reconcile with Jane, however, and he apologized for suddenly leaving her that night. He admitted his feelings for her and expressed his desire to continue seeing her. However, since she was the first woman he dated since his wife’s death, he wanted to slow down. This was an important moment for Rob because it was difficult for him to express his emotional vulnerability. He was afraid to take the step, but by extending an olive branch to Jane, he opened the door to a potential relationship at his own pace.
During one of her first photo shoots in New York City, Sydney confronted her former manager and boyfriend David. She exposed his manipulation and career sabotage. When David threatened her again, Sidney recorded it all, prompting her new manager to kick him out. This empowers Sydney, allowing her to regain her confidence and take back her power. David no longer has control over her and nothing can stop her now.
The biggest drama comes at the end of the episode, as a moment that’s been brewing all season finally comes to a head. Sally finally faced her past and confessed to Laura the accident that changed her life. Laura, in shock and disbelief, insists this can’t be true, but Sully stands firm. She breaks down and tells him that she thought he loved her and trusted her, but he lied. She stormed out, declaring that she never wanted to see him again. The secret is now revealed, with consequences that are sure to affect everyone at the crossroads. The extent of the damage, particularly to Sully, remains uncertain. Sully will undoubtedly fight the culpability, but if Lola gets in trouble with the law, the consequences could be much more serious.
