Sacramento, CA (September 1, 2026)—California’s Senate and Assembly have passed a bill that offers tax incentives designed to attract film and TV post production work to the state. It now goes to Governor Gavin Newsom’s desk for his signature.
President Donald Trump on Monday called for bipartisan tax incentives to help a domestic TV and movie industry that has seen large chunks of its business move overseas in recent years.
State and local governments in the United States have used economic development incentives for more than 100 years. Incentives typically take the form of special tax favors or subsidies to certain industries or businesses.
