director Taika Waititi Known for his energetic and hilarious movies and TV shows, a large part of his legacy includes the two Thor movies he produced for Marvel.
Before Waititi came along, Marvel’s Thor was serious, and his movies were much more serious. When the characters return to Waititi’s Thor: Ragnarokjust like what Thor depicts Chris Hemsworthis activated.
He’s back in color with a new sense of humor and fans are loving it! But when Waititi was drafted, they had their doubts.
In a recent interview with EW (via CinemaBlend), the director admitted that while taking the job catapulted him into Marvel fandom, it also opened him up to a lot of criticism from those who thought he would ruin some of the great work negative impact. But he had a great attitude about it all:
“That really pushed me into nerddom, if you will. I lived a really lovely, quiet life, and when I did that, well, the nerds came to me.
“They were like, ‘This guy’s going to ruin this. He’s going to ruin Thor!’ It’s like, ‘What, you said that again?’ They said, “He’s going to ruin everything for everyone. Thor is so cool!” “I said to them on Twitter – before I left Twitter – I said, ‘You don’t know what you want until I give it to you.
To be honest, he didn’t have to do much to improve the character and storyline given to Thor before. Waititi brings a cool new style to Thor that’s a joy to watch. It remains one of my favorite movies in the Marvel franchise, and I think it set up a great future for Hemsworth’s Thor in the Marvel Universe.
