“Cassandra,” which debuted live during the acoustic portion of Swift’s Friday show, is named after Cassandra from Greek mythology, who was given prophetic gifts and was never believed to be Curse, this was Swift’s fifth in her set of Friday performances. The Eras Tour sound installation is known as part of the concert and her performances every night are designed to surprise the audience.
“When the first stone is thrown, people will scream/There will be violent riots in the streets/When ‘Burn the b—‘ they’ll scream/When the truth comes out, all is quiet,” Swift sings about sitting in front of a flower-painted piano at Toronto’s Rogers Center in “Cassandra.”
She continues with the ballad’s chorus, singing: “So they killed Cassandra first ’cause she feared the worst / And tried to tell the town / So they filled my cell with snakes, I’m sorry to say/Do you believe me now? Do you believe me now?
Swift further surprised everyone by suddenly turning to “Mad Woman”: “What do you think I’m going to say about this? / Do scorpions sting when they fight back? / They’ll attack and kill, you know I do / You know I will”.
In the catchy chorus of “Mad Woman,” she sings: “Every time you tell me I’m crazy/I get crazier/So what?/When you say I look angry/I get angrier / Nothing like a crazy woman / It’s a shame she’s crazy / No one likes a crazy woman / You made her look like that.
While typing this sentence feels dramatic, the moment Swift swerved reputation – with “I Did Something Bad” – actually elicited gasps from stadiums and the internet, with fans who weren’t attending the concert searching online for Swift’s live stream.
“It’s a shame she’s crazy,” Swift sings on “Crazy Woman,” casually recalling reputation and”They say I did something bad”.
Toward the end of the show, the couplet becomes “Do you believe me now? What a pity she’s crazy/Do you believe me now? They say I’ve done bad things,” and a clever rewrite turns “Cassandra ” ties in with “Mad Woman” and “I Did Something Bad” in the same chorus.
The wild mash-up lasted a full seven minutes and was captured on film by concertgoers.
Before that, Swift performed a relaxing version of “Ours” on acoustic guitar (speak Now) mixed with “the last great American dynasty” (folklore).
