If you know, you know. Swift didn’t post anything on her social media accounts on Friday, December 13, which would have been her 35th birthday. But her official online team, called “Taylor Nation,” used its social media accounts to direct fans to a new section on Swift’s website dedicated to archiving material across the ages.
Fans can browse the TS era archives by clicking on Swift’s photo on the era photo banner they want to explore. There, they can find behind-the-scenes clips from the filming of music videos for “Anti-Hero,” “Karma,” “Fortnight,” and more, all of which were newly uploaded to YouTube on December 13th. Sort the videos by “Latest” to find them.
“I am the architect of the chaos in my current life,” Swift’s silver statuette version (seen in the video above) quips in the “Karma” clip. “I don’t know how many showers it will take to get it off.”
A recurring theme in these clips is the emphasis on Swift’s hands-on approach, personality and style as a director. In addition to being the obvious star of every music video here, she also directed them. Swift has 10 directing credits – nine music videos and one short film (Everything is fine: short film) – applies to projects released to date and planned to move to features. In December 2022, Swift announced that she would make her feature directorial debut with Searchlight Pictures. The as-yet-untitled film will be based on an original screenplay by Swift.
Many (if not all?) of the behind-the-scenes videos released Friday were played in stadiums on The Eras Tour before Swift took the stage for the 3.5-hour concert. The volume and excitement out there makes it difficult to pay close attention to all the little details in the clips, but now they can be watched anytime and as many times as you want in the comfort of your own home. Even more interesting: The video’s progress bar features an icon of Swift’s iconic heart-shaped hands.
On December 13, Taylor Nation also shared a link to Swift’s new Apple Music playlist “Winter Warmers,” which features songs handpicked from her own catalog, as well as songs featured from Eras’ opening performance.
Swift’s massive Eras tour concluded in Vancouver on December 8, just before she was named the 2024 Billboard Music Awards winner on December 12, making her the show’s all-time great with 10 new wins. The artist with the most awards. “This is the best birthday present you could give me,” she said in a video of her acceptance speech, citing her fans’ support of her music as the reason for her win.
