peacock’s teacup It is set domestically. Its premise is that there are more alien parasites out in the woods. As of yet, their intentions are uncertain, but there’s certainly no teddy bears’ picnic in this forest.
story
teacup Start with a woman in the woods. She tried desperately to remove a strap from her wrist. She was covered in blood and scared. The woman also muttered some incomprehensible gibberish.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch or farm (as appropriate):
Despite some family issues, the Chenoweths are living their lives. Their farm, bordered by woods, may not be entirely peaceful, but they do seem to be quite happy.
A goat wanders into the woods surrounding their property, and Arlo chases it. This turned out to be a mistake.

Don’t cross the line
exist teacupthe surrounding forest isn’t the only problem. A mysterious man wearing an old-fashioned gas mask arrives and sprays a blue line around the actual farm. We held up a small whiteboard and saw a few words: “Don’t cross the line.”
From that point on, it was all downhill for the Chenoweths and their “guests.”
this feels very familiar
teacup It feels familiar. Not overly so, but the whole thing has a “we’ve seen this before” feel. it’s not too similar what’s happening or Arcadia. Or, for that matter, any number of apocalyptic stories on television. Although the events that unfold are otherworldly, the plot is very simple.
plot
A “normal” family living a “normal” life is suddenly replaced by various events. These events put their world at risk and are strange, disturbing, and downright terrifying.
Sound familiar? Correct?
it still works
the show’s creator teacup Ian McCulloch is very sincere. So the series is off to a great start. Despite its slow pace, the show still works. The FX in the first two episodes are very impressive. However, once again they felt the recall the last of us and (also) parasitic creation in that verse.
judgment
teacup Could very well be the “next big thing” on television. It has many benefits. On one hand, it’s great to see Scott Speedman again. The actors all bring something to the table here. The only thing that really hurts the show is that familiar feeling.
*I also found myself thinking about the Outer Range. The plots are not similar, but the “feel” is almost the same.
I give it a rocking 3.5 out of 5.
