Teddy Swims talks about his favorite things about performing “Lose Control” live and why the BBMAs are so special this year at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards.

I try my best and when we perform, I always make it feel like this is our living room, you know. In my living room, I was walking around butt naked, not that I was physically butt naked, but figuratively, I was just trying to create a safe place for myself and other people to feel like we Being, you know, in the same room together.
My favorite part about performing live is, you know, when you’re writing the song, you have this beautiful thing that happens to you and you just, it’s just for you in that moment. But I think the most beautiful thing is, the place that I was in when I was writing this song, when I was really depressed, that was the moment that I took ownership of that trauma and also those times where we’re going through the same trauma, we Make it a celebration and own it, celebrate it together, and come out the other side. All the while, we win together.
You should tune in to the Billboard Music Awards, though, because I’m going to be a part of it. So maybe, just maybe, if that’s not enough, there are a lot of great artists out there. I think this year is really special because, you know, there’s a lot of new artists and I think they’re just like traditional artists and I think there’s a lot of new artists that are here to stay and I think it’s going to be a historic year. Ten years from now, every new artist you see this year will still be around.
