The Equalizer Season 5 Episode 3 deviated from their usual roles in this episode.
When Harry takes the lead undercover, Robin is hesitant.
We don’t see this very often, but it was an exciting episode!
It looks like it will take a while for the team to regroup – if that’s what they plan to do.
Meanwhile, while we wait to see what Mel and Marcus plan to do, Robin and Harry hold down the fort on their own and do just fine.
This pairing is really great, except in the first episode of The Equalizer season 5, where Robin is alone.
Content Creator Disappearance Case
A social worker and mother named Lilly Evans goes missing.
Harry helped track Lily’s cell phone and found the halfway house. Without hesitation, Harry tells Robin that he is her Huckleberry and takes to the streets to do some investigative work.
The two find Lily’s phone and a disturbing video of Lily looking terrified.
I knew from the start that we were in for a great episode, with the opening scene of Lily crying on the floor in handcuffs in a beautiful gown.
Lily leads a double life and has an online persona. It looks like she’s in over her head.
Harry tells Robin that he will go undercover to learn about Lily-related content companies.
Harry goes undercover as the Shredder
When Harry came to play the content creator, he looked dapper in jeans, boots and a guitar.
We’ve never seen Harry like this! It’s exciting to see him break the mold.
It’s also hilarious to see him pretend to be an internet personality, considering he faked his death with Robin’s help.
He manages to steal several of the company’s files from his own zip drive, then goes into hiding with Robin and what he needs to track down Lily.
Harry and Robin thought they had found a possible suspect, but after Robin pulled the man in for a conversation, they realized he wasn’t Lily’s kidnapper.
Robin and Harry went back to the drawing board and realized that the content company might be selling their model after they discovered another one was missing a few months ago.
Harry returns to Content and further proves he’s a bad guy when he threatens the CEO and questions her financial records.
Robin gets her man, but not without a fight
Harry managed to find their latest suspect, and after some work it became apparent that he had found Lily and another model named Sarah.
Robin tracks down Lily and Sarah. I was sure the case was closed, but it didn’t end easily after Sarah pulled a gun on her.
I always enjoy a great speech from Robin McCall and this is what we got. She convinces Sarah to put down the gun.
Worst wing girl ever
Aunt Viola always makes brief appearances, and this episode is no exception.
She attends a new outreach program meeting and nearly exposes Robin when a police officer comments about the vigilantes and wanting to be the “equalizer.”
Luckily, Aunt Viola’s friends stopped her from publicly defending Robin and then calling her the worst flanker ever!
By the end of the show, the police officer seems interested in Aunt Viola. Could this be a new relationship forming?
Mel takes the next step in her mental health journey
Mel decided to get therapy to deal with her PTSD and anxiety.
While Robin and Harry were busy working on their cases, Mel spent more time with Delilah processing their trauma.
Delilah and Mel’s friendship is adorable, but unusually, they’re even closer than Mel and Robin. Does anyone else think so?
We haven’t seen Mel and Robin spend time together or talk much since the start of the season.
Mel learned she needed an outlet. She plans to try some songwriting to see if that helps.
Is Marcus finally ready to go home?
Marcus appears a few times in the episode, but his screen time is brief as he’s still working a new job in Los Angeles.
Now that he can’t see his children, he’s legitimately stressed about them.
While Robin reiterates that what he’s doing is life-changing, it doesn’t seem like it’s enough for him.
Now that he misses Robin and his sons, he may finally be on the fence about whether moving to the West Coast is a good idea.
Three episodes into the season, it’s clear that the writers’ room is going to keep his return longer than I originally thought.
Are you ready for Marcus to return to New York? What about Mel? How long will it take for her to return to the team?
Will we hear more about Aunt Viola’s health scare? Can she hide Robin’s true identity from her new love?
