The Equalizer Season 5 Episode 4 features Marcus’ unexpected return.
A reunion has been long overdue since Marcus and Robin said goodbye at the end of The Equalizer Season 4 Episode 10.
It’s an emotional affair about sacrifice and trust and shocking death.
Before we dive into the two front-runners on the same track, let’s talk about the team and its latest high-stakes case.
The case involves a young hacker who finds himself at the mercy of some ruthless criminals.
This case means a lot to Harry
This was a case that fell into Harry’s hands, and something he couldn’t ignore.
Harry had been working on cracking the encryption on the drive he and Fisk had stolen from Budapest three months earlier.
In the code, he discovered a distress signal sent by a hacker calling himself Chaos. Fisk was annoyed that Harry wasn’t focusing on the code, but Harry was too focused on the young hacker’s call for help.
Harry had a lot in common with the young genius. He too was once a young hacker. He knows what will happen to Chaos once the bad guys eliminate him.
After Harry recounted his past encounters with criminals, Robin felt sympathy for the child and Harry.
Of course, we know Robin helped him when he was younger, but we think McCall knew it all when it came to Harry.
The Equalizer team reunites
When Marcus arrived in town, Robin asked Harry to do research. Yes, Marcus is back after getting a call about his father Ben’s poor health.
While it’s all unfortunate, this turn of events puts everyone back into their original roles, which is awesome!
Mel was pissed off that Fisk was around, so she stuck to Harry like glue. This forces her to get involved in the case.
Mel transformed back into her old self, swooping in to save Harry and Robin after they followed a clue and rescued Chaos from the criminals who imprisoned him.
We even see her shoot a man, which once caused her a panic attack.
As cyberweapons are created and prepared for sale to the highest bidder, the team must work together to save the world in partnership with Chaos and Fisk.
Harry shares his hacking wisdom
As Equalizer fans know, Fisk was abrasive and ruthless, but his speeches about sacrifice and trust made the team think hard when it came to a shared future.
Let’s hope his words of wisdom are enough to unite the team for good.
The team plans to go out and pair Harry with Chaos to ensure the safety of the device. This allows Harry to share some of his own wisdom about life, hacking, and being trapped in a cage with Chaos.
Robin and Mel also teamed up to divert the drive’s drop.
It was refreshing to see them spending some time together, aside from their recent superficial conversation at the bar.
When the water droplets move laterally, the chaos becomes unusual. Harry chased him. Mel and Robin followed.
Fisk made the ultimate sacrifice
Faced with the question of giving up the drive or saving Chaos, Fisk swaps the drive for a bomb and leaves on a boat with the criminals.
By the time Robin realizes what Fisk is trying to do, it’s too late. He blew himself up along with the criminals.
This is something I didn’t foresee. Fisk’s death is heartbreaking. He was involved in some great storylines over the course of the show.
The energy he brings to the team is always fun.
Marcus finally decides to ask some big questions
While the team works on their latest case, Marcus is dealing with a shocking incident involving Big Ben.
After the surgery, his father had no idea who he was and it didn’t look like he was acting.
It’s a surprising twist, and comes at a time when Marcus seems ready to confront his father and have a serious talk about their troubled relationship.
Robin is still on the fence about Marcus
After Marcus showed up unexpectedly and met Robin for the first time, I was sure these two would rekindle their relationship.
But it seems the producers have other plans. They seem hell-bent on solving this problem.
Miles also appears in this episode, where he continues to try to get Robin back.
Were you surprised to see Robin cancel her plans to be with Marcus because she seemed serious about giving Miles another chance?
At the beginning of the episode, Robin seemed to miss Marcus and planned to make him the main focus outside of the case.
By the end of the episode, I wasn’t so sure. It looks like Marcus is heading back to New York, and neither man plans to stand up for the other.
Are you ready to get them together and make it official? Or would you rather see Robin and Miles together again?
