Mel and Robin are back at work together.
Delilah is ready to make a big decision.
and Robin admits she still has feelings for Marcus in The Equalizer season 5 episode 5!
But there’s more! After weeks of waiting, we’ve learned new information about Aunt Vi’s ongoing health scare.
Well, before we get into what’s going on in the personal lives of our favorite characters, let’s take a look at this week’s case.
Mel is back with Robin on the case of a stand-up comedian who needs to be rescued from a killer.
There was a twist in the case – the stand-up comedian hired a hitman to kill him.
Yes, that caught my attention too. This makes an otherwise boring case much more interesting.
So why would someone hire a killer to end their own life? Take comedian Craig Harris, who has been struggling to pay his bills.
Death is more valuable than life
This situation made him feel that he was worth more dead than alive.
Craig asked his friend to end his life so that his wife could unknowingly receive benefits from his life insurance policy.
Robin looked as shocked as everyone else when she learned of the crazy plan. She also didn’t believe his friend when he said he planned to call it all off.
Robin points out that his friend is the beneficiary and may not be as trustworthy as he thinks.
Robin, Mel and Harry quickly did their homework on Craig’s friends. After some interviews, they learned there was quite a bit of history between them, some of which was not without resentment and grudges.
Robin hesitant about Mel returning to competition
Robin and Mel find Craig and tell him that all of his friends have alibis after a car tried to run him down.
Watching Robin and Mel take to the streets together again feels like a throwback to the good old days.
But Robin was hesitant. Mel had to reassure her repeatedly that she was ready to work in the field.
Craig is nearly murdered again when he accepts a quick meal from a man in the park.
The comedian may be funny, but his lack of common sense makes the episode frustrating to watch at times.
After Robin and Mel learn that Craig’s stand-up comedy has also made him enemies, Robin and Mel take him to a safe house to ensure his safety.
Soon after, Harry delved into Craig’s past relationship with his ex-wife and learned that she also had a grudge. Did anyone else miss Harry this episode? We have yet to see him return to play with Mel.
Robin experienced her ex-wife’s rage firsthand when she attacked Craig with a baseball bat.
Mel realizes his ex-wife is not a suspect. Craig decided to drive off to make amends for his insulting joke.
Craig apologized on stage at a local club and told how he hurt others when one of his fellow comedians pointed a gun at him.
Robin arrived just in time to save Craig from the fatal shot. Robin thanks Mel for being someone she can trust in both her professional and personal life.
Marcus faces a big decision involving Big Ben
Equalizer fans know the drama between Big Ben and Marcus. Over the years, while in prison, Ben often wrote to Marcus.
Marcus never reads the letters, but after his father’s sister comes to visit him and hands him the letters, he finally seems willing to find peace in this part of his life.
It now appears that he will stay and take care of his father.
Aunt Viola’s biopsy resolved
The storyline involving Aunt Viola’s cancer scare was first introduced a few weeks ago and hasn’t been mentioned since.
Only now do we know more about the matter.
As the two talked about Marcus, Robin discovered the pending results of her aunt’s biopsy on her iPad.
When Delilah enters the room, she stops them from talking about this horrific possibility. At the end of the episode, we learn that Aunt Vi is healed!
Delilah decided to continue her college career
Delilah has made up her mind about life after high school.
Early on in The Equalizer’s fifth season, Delilah wasn’t sure whether to go to college or join the workforce.
Now she visits schools with her father, wondering if she will be admitted because of her grades or the color of her skin.
Aunt Viola took her to meet some college students from a local school, and the experience was an eye-opening experience. They feel safe and can express themselves freely, which gives Delilah hope that she can find the college she needs.
Robin gives up her feelings for Marcus to maintain their friendship
It feels like a bygone time when Marcus was still at home dealing with his father’s health and memory loss.
But after he tries to kiss Robin, she rejects him and politely reminds him that he still lives on the West Coast.
She’s cautious, and we can’t blame her. She can’t separate her feelings and wants more, even though she previously thought she could handle them just by being friends.
Since Big Ben is still in the woods and Marcus is a family man, he will likely return to New York for good.
Faced with the stress of his family situation, will he be willing to enter into a relationship with Robin?
