This will be the first Berlinale under the new directorship of former London Film Festival president Trica Tuttle, who succeeds Berlinale co-directors Carlo Chatrian and Mariëtte Rissenbeek. Tuttle revamped the Berlinale’s management and selection process, appointing Michael Stütz, head of the Berlinale Panorama sidebar, and Jacqueline Lyanga, Berlinale’s U.S. representative, as co-directors of film programming , appointed a new selection committee and expanded the festival’s network of advisors and representatives.
In London, Tuttle is known for his close ties with American studios, which has helped bring many star-studded premieres to the British capital. Berlin was a bit starved for celebrities during the Chatrian/Liesenbeck era, and one hopes Tuttle and her team can up the star quotient for the 75th Berlinale.
