Members of progressive rock band The Mars Volta, Omar Rodríguez-López and Cedric Bixler-Zavala sit down with Zane Lowe to discuss the inspiration behind their seventh studio album, ‘The Mars Volta’.

The Mars Volta discuss what progressive rock means to them and how they conveyed it on this album. Omar and Cedric discuss what it took to get back together after falling out in 2012 and how their emotional reunion shaped the new album. “Blacklight Shine” is the first song on the album and is accompanied by a short-film, the goal of this song and others is to make you dance and cry at the same time. The two also discuss their experience in ‘At The Drive-In’ and mental health.
