It was recently revealed that Miley Cyrus’ Hot 100 No. 1 single “Flowers” has been accused of allegedly plagiarizing Bruno Mars’ “When I’m Your Man.” When I Was Your Man), let’s take a look at five other Hot 100 No. 1 songs. Olivia Rodrigo had a huge chart success in 2021, scoring her second No. 1 on the Hot 100 chart that year with “good 4 u.”
But Olivia’s success was not without controversy, as many thought “good 4 u” sounded a lot like Paramore’s “Misery Business.”
Olivia retroactively credits the creation of “good 4 u” to Paramore frontman Hayley Williams and former guitarist Josh Farrow. The “Sour” singer is already facing plagiarism accusations after the “Deja Vu” bridge in her song “Deja Vu” was inspired by Taylor Swift’s “Cruel Summer” when writing the song.

Another Hot 100 No. 1 hit that was accused of plagiarism was Lizzo’s “Truth Hurts.” The song went to No. 1 on the charts in September 2019, nearly two years after its release, becoming Lizzo’s first No. 1 song. As the song rose up the charts in 2019, Lizzo was accused by two different groups of plagiarizing the song’s opening lyrics.
