The Orchard, Sony Music Entertainment’s distribution and artist/label services company, has appointed two new senior personnel at its Seoul office.
Warner Bros. Explore Veterans Li Zhiying Has been appointed Country Manager for Korea and also Spotify and Popular music (IE move) veteran Bae Sung-ho “Jack” Appointed Director of Artist and Label Services, Asia Pacific.
Li most recently held the position of general manager, Warner Bros. Discovery and Senior Vice President, Content Strategy, Asia Pacific. Prior to that, she served as General Manager for Japan and Korea Discovery Companyand global head of music business CJ E&M.
The Orchard said in a statement released on Wednesday (October 23) that Lee brings nearly two decades of experience in entertainment companies, including leadership, strategy, sales, content distribution, management and marketing.
Lee will be responsible for The Orchard’s Korean operations, including label management, publishing strategy, global distribution and regional support, as well as driving new business. She will be responsible for implementing the company’s “full range of monetization global solutions” in what Orchard calls “key markets in the Asia-Pacific region.”

Lee’s “strategic business acumen and extensive network, coupled with a deep understanding of Korean culture, will be invaluable in enhancing The Orchard’s value proposition in the region,” Prashant BahadurLee will report to executive vice president, strategy.

Additionally, The Orchard’s New York-based senior vice president of strategy and corporate development, John Parkerhis responsibilities expanded to focus on business opportunities in South Korea. Park will work with Lee on new signings and partnerships, as well as global strategy, The Orchard said.
The Orchard stated that Bae is the company’s new director of Asia Pacific, Artist and Record Services. He previously held leadership positions at Spotify and Big Hit Music and “has good connections in the Korean music industry.” While on Big Hit, Bae teamed up with The Orchard to break base station – The world’s largest K-pop performance for a global audience.
In his new role, he will be responsible for implementing launch strategy across the Asia-Pacific region, with a focus on cross-border marketing, The Orchard said.

The Orchard operates in 47 cities around the world and has what it calls a “strong” roster in South Korea, including Starship Entertainment (IVE, longing), Abyss Corporation (BamBam, Shangmei), Regime International (DPR IAN, DPR ARTIC, DPR Cream), Eric South, Modehouse (tripleS, ARTMS), and cultural thinking (rap beat).
Over the past year, the company has made a number of noteworthy appointments globally, including promoting KGV Kiran Kumar Serves as Managing Director, India.
