Dark Sky Films has released a new trailer celebrating the 50th anniversary of the 1974 horror classic Texas Chainsaw Massacre directed by tobe hooper.
The film was digitally restored in 2014 to celebrate its 40th anniversary and was re-released in theaters this October to commemorate its 50th anniversary.
I have never seen this movie on the big screen. I first watched it on a VHS tape when I was in elementary school. So high, this movie made me upset! I had horrible nightmares after watching this movie!
The description reads: “Fifty years ago, five young men spending a weekend in rural Texas fell prey to a butcher wearing a human skin mask, and his cannibal family and horror movies were never the same.
“Director Tobe Hooper’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is violent, confrontational, and brutally realistic, and when it was released in 1974 amid political and social turmoil in the United States, it struck a chord with Terrify the audience in unimagined ways.
“This horror masterpiece was met with controversy, censorship, and outcry upon its release, but it has stood the test of time and become a landmark cinematic and cultural landmark.”
It’s crazy, you know, Hooper limited the amount of gore on screen because he wanted to get a PG rating, but the MPAA rated it R anyway.
“The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” is screening at the Sitges Film Festival. “Dark Skies” will also be re-released in theaters this fall in 4K on October 1, 2024. For more information + tickets, visit their official website.
