“The Book of Carol” returns to the beginning of Daryl and Carol’s story. I think the goal of the producers was to make it clear that our characters were going to have an internal struggle throughout the six episodes of the season. Think about it. In ZA, the four protagonists are perfect outsiders who share a common bond of trauma. Carol and Daryl are both survivors of physical abuse. Isabel is a drug-addled liar whose behavior does not conform to society’s rules of decorum. Laurent was raised by adults, socially isolated from other children, and groomed to bear the burden of humanity’s fate. This trauma bond makes it difficult for them to form healthy relationships and comfortably integrate into the community. Notably, Daryl and Carol repeatedly and consciously withdrew from their respective communities because they felt safer when socially and emotionally isolated. Season 2 begins with Daryl feeling conflicted about his identity as a resident of another community called The Nest. Daryl’s conversations with Lobsang, the spiritual leader of the lair, make it clear that he doesn’t know how long he’ll be staying. Unsure if he belongs here, Daryl muses aloud to Isabelle, asking if anyone in the family still misses him, though Lobsang assures him that there is a place for everyone in the lair if they choose to look.

The story cuts to Carol. I appreciate the symmetry of Daryl asking the question: “Does anyone in the family miss me?” The answer is yes, because Carol risks everything to find him. but why? Carol and Daryl are close friends, but have different motivations from Rick and Michonne, who both want to be home with their children as romantic partners and as parents. While reconnecting with her old friends is a personal thing, it’s more important to Carol than that. Her journey is to put the broken parts of herself back together. To accomplish this, Carol will use all the skills she’s acquired along the way, such as observing the people at the site of Daryl’s disappearance in the same way she and Rick did before descending on Terminus. This allows her to roll up, subdue would-be attackers, learn that Daryl is in France, and steal a car. In network programming, nothing airs by accident. So I wanted to focus on the music, how Charlene’s “I’ve Never Been to Me” and Grass Roots’ “Sooner or Later” express Carol’s inner struggle. here, but please find the lyrics to “I’ve Never Been to Me” and see how closely they fit with Carol’s story. As expected, the walkers break into the property and greenhouse, putting Carol’s life in danger. Most shocking of all, Carol used information about Ash’s dead child to lie to him about why she wanted to go to France. She leads Ash to believe that this is to find Sophia, not Daryl. I don’t know if Carol’s bad behavior was because she was in a Sophia-induced fugue state, or if she was deliberately acting to force Ash to leave his home. What do you think?

After returning to France, Daryl volunteered for the Nest rescue mission. It’s worth noting that the Nest team planned and executed their mission carefully. In terms of values and principles, the mission’s approach is very loose and very Akimichi-like. However, when the explosives fail to detonate, Daryl impulsively shows up and shoots cowboy style. Daryl acted as Isabelle commented earlier: “He did what was necessary.” However, when Daryl saw the villain Madame Genette, he uncharacteristically hesitated, leaving Genette The lady escaped. To please horror fans, the special effects team also included some walkers killed by plane propellers and wings. These kills remind me of S7E5 “Go Getters” where Maggie kills walkers with a tractor. Walker kills have long stopped impressing me, but they still entertain me.

Finally, Carol admitted that she had never flown on an airplane before and closed her eyes nervously. She heard, “Take a deep breath. Are you okay?” It was unclear if Carol remembered the meditation tape, or if Ash was speaking to her. As they sped through the clouds, she opened her eyes and looked With a glance at Ash, who gestured toward the rising sun, he must have told her, “There’s nothing to be afraid of here. “Of course, we knew there were lots of reasons to be scared. We knew Ash would probably be on a one-way trip. That fact made me a little sad because I liked him and was passionate about La Gentillesse des Étrangers – the kindness of strangers It doesn’t hurt at all that the actor who plays Ash, Manish Dayal, is very handsome.
