X factor Tributes have been paid to One Direction member Liam Payne following his death yesterday (October 16). A 31-year-old man died after falling from a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The British group formed in 2010 when they appeared on the UK version of X factorof the seventh series. During their six-year career, the band had four consecutive No. 1 albums Advertising billboard 200 and 6 top 10 hits. billboard hot 100.
A post on the show’s official social media read: “We are heartbroken by the tragic passing of Liam Payne. Liam was incredibly talented and as part of One Direction, Liam will be Leaving a lasting legacy in the music community and fans around the world, our thoughts are with his friends, family and all who loved him.
One Direction went on an indefinite hiatus in 2016, and all five former members – Payne, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson – have launched solo careers in the years since.
According to local police, Payne fell to his death from a third-floor hotel room in Buenos Aires. Before his death, police received a call from the hotel reporting an “aggressive man who may be under the influence of drugs and alcohol”.
Alberto Crescenti, the city’s emergency medical services director, told local media that Payne suffered “serious injuries” from the fall but declined to answer any other questions from readers about Payne’s fall.
Payne released a solo album, LP1in 2019, and stated that follow-up work has begun. He leaves behind a child, Bear, whom he had with his former partner Cheryl Cole of Girls Alouds.
