The constant pursuit of perfection is difficult, but Sloan manages to do it, especially in front of her overbearing mother.
Sloan’s storyline changes the most from Lisa Taddeo’s book. The show focuses more on the intricacies of this rocking relationship and why Sloane needs so much warmth and affection.
From the start of “3 Women” Season 1 Episode 3, it’s clear that Sloan is struggling with body image issues. Her mother had grown up teasing her about her weight, but there was no need for it. She is so cute.
Dealing with an overbearing mother is the worst, especially when it hinders your sense of self-worth. It’s one thing to use exercise to better yourself and improve your mental health, but Sloane has become exotic and gorgeous.
However, even beautiful women can struggle with eating disorders, and I was relieved that Three Women portrayed that. Sloan was often subjected to stress and derogatory remarks, which led her to overeat and then binge-eat again.
Her mom was just one of those mothers who took advantage of her self-esteem in a way that didn’t look like abuse, but it was.
Calling her overly sensitive and suggesting Sloan doesn’t work as hard as her mom is just the tip of the iceberg.
Anyone who has a child with special needs knows that implying that your child is different is a no-no. Dean probably preferred the old-school kids who were seen but not heard. However, the suggestion that something was wrong with Sophie sent Sloane into an emotional spiral.
Gia believed that Sloan needed extra love because she was not getting enough maternal satisfaction and affection. Richard idolizes Sloane and thinks she’s sexy, but Sloane needs to feel successful in her own life.
Everything in her and Richard’s lives was about image, similar to her mother’s world. They have to throw the right party with the right staff.
Even when they play with other couples, Richard chooses who he plays with. While many believe the swing was Richard’s idea and that it was Sloan’s preference, these guys couldn’t have been better than Richard.
Kira and Isaac’s swinging sex scene is hot and sexy. We don’t see much of it on TV, but it’s not as raw, honest, and sweet as Lena and Aidan’s in the second episode of Season 1 of 3 Women.
The scenes are sexy and raunchy, but Sloan doesn’t look as relaxed as before.
Part of me felt sympathy for Richard because he liked Sloane so much, and she always wanted more. Richard wanted to give Sloan the world and asked only for honesty in return. This works until she meets Will (Blair Redford).
As mentioned before, the slogan of “Three Women” should be “Inappropriate Things”. There’s one for every leading lady, with Sloane (DeWanda Wise) and Will (Blair Redford) lighting up the screen.
Normally, we comment on actresses, but we can’t ignore the talent of Blair Redford. Ever since he started acting, he’s played sexy bad boys, and he’s been good at it.
There is nothing wrong with selling oysters or building boats. It was a good, honest job, but it wasn’t the typical kind of people Sloane associated with.
That was why Will was attractive to her. She used many excuses to meet him. He encourages her to have fun and change things up.
There is something so taboo and intense between Sloane and Will. Even when they don’t speak, their chemistry is intense, and their longing glances and sensual caresses say it all.
Their connection is so strong that no matter how hard they try, they can’t stay away from each other. Sloan was so relaxed and different around Will.
Sloane doesn’t want to be the other woman who demands that he figure things out before they start making out passionately. Although the episode doesn’t show a sex scene this time around, we hear Will scream in ecstasy.
As it turns out, dating Lily is complicated. Sloan and Lily seem like kindred spirits, as both of their mothers were ill-equipped, but they are both attracted to Will.
Initially, it appears that Sloane simply hired a new florist because Richard forbade her from seeing Will. Acting like she can’t get what she wants. She was taking control of her life in another way.
Lily is almost like a younger version of Sloane. She doesn’t care what others think of her, but like Sloan, she longs for love. They both developed strong personalities, tried to differentiate themselves from their mothers, and had an excessive need to fit in.
That gripping story touched many people’s emotions. Sloan goes after what she wants, no matter who it hurts, and she wants Will.
After dealing with her critical family, he seemed like the balm to soothe her wounds. But how much longer can Sloane lie to Richard? He saw the connection between Sloan and Will.
It’s hard not to feel sympathy for Lily. Sloane never wanted to like Lily. She wants to see her as a typical employee and distance herself from her, but Sloane lacks many friends because many women hate her because she’s pretty and loves sex.
It was awkward watching the women talk about Will. First of all, why did he recommend Lily to Sloan? Will Will thrive in chaos?
Someone always gets hurt, and I love Sloan and Lily’s friendship. They all need someone to inspire them and push them. It’s about women supporting each other.
The play gets messier as more people get involved, and I’m excited to revisit it soon.
What do you think of Sloan’s story? Have you stressed to her about her mother? Would you rather she be with Richard or Will?
There’s still much more to Sloan’s journey. We’d love to hear your opinions, so please share them with us below.
