Adam Wingard has found his bad guy.
UFC light heavyweight champion Alex “Poatan” Pereira in talks to debut opposite Adria Arjona onslaughtWingard’s action thriller, is produced by A24, Lyrical Media and Ryder Picture Company.

The scope is said to be more in line with Wingard’s early films, which were all original creations before he began making big-budget spectacle blockbusters Godzilla vs. Kong and Godzilla×King Kong.
Sources reveal that Arjona will play a mother who relies on a specific set of skills to protect her loved ones after being threatened while escaping from a secret military base.
Pereira will play a character named “The Butcher” and will bring his array of skills to the role – including an anaconda choke and a roundhouse kick.
Aaron Ryder and Andrew Sweet will serve as producers onslaught Owned by Ryder Pictures, just off the A24. Lyrical Media’s Alexander Black also produced the film. Wingard and manager Jeremy Platt will also produce with Barrett through their new company Breakaway Civilization.
Lyrical and A24 will jointly fund the offering, with A24 responsible for global distribution. Lyrical’s Jon Rosenberg and Natalie Sellers will serve as executive producers for A24.
Pereira is a former kickboxer and Brazilian mixed martial artist who currently competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s light heavyweight division. He is one of the few boxers to win titles in two different weight classes.
