Shocking news from the reality TV world today, Bravo has just announced that Vanderpump Rules has cut ties with them all Throw!
Yes, the long-running series is returning for Season 12, but it’ll do this No Tom Sandoval, Ariana Maddix, Tom Schwartz, Katie Maloney and DJ James Kennedy.
According to a press release issued today, the show will attempt a hard reset with an entirely new cast.
The boss himself commented on the news this afternoon.
“The past 12 years of filming have been an extraordinary journey filled with laughter, tears, and everything in between,” Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast member Lisa Vanderpump, VPR’s namesake Lisa Vanderpump said.
“I can’t thank anyone enough for sharing their lives. I love you so much,” she continued. “In the restaurant industry, one shift always gives way to another. Here’s to the next generation of Vanderpump Rules.
The newcomers are described as a “close-knit group of SUR guys who, like their iconic predecessors, have complex relationships with one another.”
Executive producer Alex Baskin added: “It’s incredibly exciting to be able to build on the legacy of this series.”
“With a deep appreciation for the original team and its iconic run, we can’t wait for viewers to see a dynamic new group of colleagues and friends navigate life together.”
The news is likely to elicit mixed reactions from Vanderpump devotees.
After years of hiatus, the show unexpectedly made its 10th season comeback when the world learned that series regular Tom Sandoval had been unfaithful to long-term girlfriend Ariana Madix The popularity of the place has rebounded.
Unfortunately, the show proved unable to capitalize on this success in the short term.
Ratings for “Vanderpump Rules” Season 11 have been declining as producers continue to return to the “Scandoval” well.
Eventually, this particular drama dried up and the audience lost interest.
The cast seemed to be taking the news in stride, with Lala Kent posting a sentimental carousel on Instagram in which she congratulated herself for “rocking this bitch until the wheels fell off.”
Maloney said on her Instagram Story that she “wouldn’t change a thing” after going through a “mixed bag” of experiences.
Kent and Scheana Shay have both appeared on VPR spinoff The Valley, but according to today’s news, it’s unclear if they plan to join the cast full-time.
As for Vanderpump Rules, the show has made several attempts to add new cast members over the years, but most have been unsuccessful.
The show has been one of the most successful of Bravo’s many shows in the past, so you can bet that Andy Cohen and company are hoping to return it to its former glory. Frankly, we have our doubts.
