Virgin Music Group, the global independent artist and label services arm of Universal Music Group, has entered into a strategic partnership with Hungama Digital Media to increase the international exposure of Indian regional music.
This collaboration aims to leverage hongamaof digital entertainment networks and Virgin Music‘s global distribution capabilities create opportunities for Indian artists to reach global audiences.

Hungama has 25 years of digital entertainment experience with over 45 million assets and influence 75 countries and more than 150 platforms. Its social media community covers 20 million users, the video platform has reached additional 10 million user.
The partnership will specifically expand the scope of Hungama’s music catalog to include music from SVF, grass road, OTVas well as some movie soundtracks. Virgin Music will distribute the music across its global network, potentially introducing regional Indian music to new markets.

The alliance comes as Virgin Music continues to expand its global reach, including in the South Asian music market. In March, Virgin Music and Entertainment at 3ama brand founded by British artists Jay Seanproducer Jeremy Schallerand talent managers Jared Cote. Virgin Music Group said at the time that 3AM Entertainment would focus on developing South Asian artists across all genres.
In late October, Virgin Music acquired industrya company focusing on artist and record label services and copyright management businesses in China, India and other “high-potential markets.”
Last year, Virgin Music Group merged its subsidiaries Virgin Music (formerly known as Virgin Records and Artist Services) and grooveis a music publishing and marketing company acquired by UMG in 2019.
