Warner Music Brazil has made a series of changes it says are aimed at “strengthening” its presence across a range of domestic genres in the country.
As part of a restructuring, Warner Music Brazil President Leila Oliveira has made two strategic appointments to strengthen her leadership team, among them Tatiana Cantinho Joining as General Manager, Mariana Frensel has been appointed Marketing Director.
Both take up their duties immediately and will work out of the company’s headquarters in Rio de Janeiro.
According to IFPI data, Brazil is the ninth largest recorded music market in the world. Its value is $573.6 million, an increase of 13.39% last year.
Tatiana Cantinho has over 20 years of industry experience. The executive previously held regional positions at Sony Music before moving to Som Livre, a well-known independent record company at the time (acquired by Sony in 2022), and established his own music company Stamina Musical in 2022.
Mariana Frensel previously worked for eight years at online dating giant Match Group, most recently as director of revenue and growth at New Verticals.
Frensel served as International Label Manager for Warner Music Brazil from 2011 to 2015.
Warner Music Brazil is also restructuring its A&R and marketing departments to focus on sertanejo, forró, samba, funk and urban music genres.
Current A&R Director Marcos Kilzer will continue to lead the team and work closely with Cantinho.
Meanwhile, Thiago Abreu will lead a new creative services team, which will report directly to Leila Oliveira. The team will provide support to the marketing and A&R teams, while also working closely on special brand partnerships and live music projects.
These moves are the latest changes for Oliveira since she became Brazil’s first female brand leader in 2022.
Earlier this year, she collaborated with colleagues at Warner Chappell Music and ADA Brazil to launch Warner Music Space, a new corporate headquarters in the Barra da Tijuca area of Rio de Janeiro.
Last month, ADA Brazil and Warner Music Brazil announced their investment in Sua Música Group, which owns Brazil’s largest music platform and Sua Música digital publisher.
Warner Music Brazil is home to artists such as IZA, Pedro Sampaio, Ferrugem, MC Hariel, MC Ryan SP, Kayblack, MC IG, MC Don Juan, Azzy, Marvvila, Thiago Freitas, US Agroboy, João Bosco & Vinícius and Clayton & Romario.
