For over two decades, YouTube has helped creators turn creative sparks into thriving businesses and communities. Today, we are proud to release our 2025 U.S. YouTube Impact Report, backed by new research from Oxford Economics and YouTube internal data, demonstrating how American creativity continues to serve as a powerful engine for U.S. economic growth and culture.

A graphic showing the $60 billion GDP impact YouTube had in 2025.

    A powerful economic engine

YouTube enables creators to turn audiences into businesses. As their channels grow, they scale into local employers—hiring editors, renting studio space, and supporting local suppliers. This ripple effect adds up to massive economic impact: in 2025, YouTube’s creative ecosystem contributed over $60 billion to the U.S. GDP and supported more than 540,000 full-time equivalent jobs.

This is a nationwide phenomenon: creators are thriving exactly where they are, whether in rural areas or urban centers. Today, all 50 states have at least 10 channels with over 1 million monthly views. Those views translate into business growth: 76% of small- and medium-sized businesses with a YouTube channel say YouTube played a role in helping them grow their customer base by reaching new audiences.

77% of creators who say they have a media and entertainment career started that career on YouTube.

    The epicenter of culture

YouTube creators share stories, moments, and ideas that capture imaginations. Audiences drive the conversation forward by engaging, sharing, and building on what they see. The platform has become a launching pad: 77% of creators who say they have a media and entertainment career started that career on YouTube.

The content YouTube creators make helps bring us together. 87% of viewers report watching music videos, music festivals, or awards ceremonies on YouTube in the last year and 67% of viewers report discussing a YouTube video together with a friend or family member on a monthly basis, rising to 72% for Gen Z. On YouTube, every corner of America has a national — even global — stage.

94% of teachers who use YouTube report using YouTube content directly in their lessons and/or assignments.

A trusted platform for educators and families

Parents and teachers often turn to YouTube to help children make age-appropriate discoveries and supplement their educational experience, whether a student is working to grasp a complex scientific concept, studying for an exam, or learning to play the guitar.

94% of teachers who use YouTube report using YouTube content directly in their lessons and/or assignments, with 81% stating it provides access to educational content that students would not otherwise have. At home, 78% of parents who use YouTube say YouTube (or YouTube Kids for children under 13) provides quality content for their children’s learning and/or entertainment.

    Driving the creator economy forward

Whether expanding a small business, shaping the cultural conversation, or inspiring a classroom, YouTube is built for opportunity. Check out the full 2025 U.S. YouTube Impact Report to explore more data and see stories from the creators driving YouTube’s impact in the U.S.
