    News from Colm Omuchu

I hope you are pursuing your independent filmmaking dreams. Making movies is always a fun activity that can take you to places you wouldn’t normally go. Additionally, you will meet many talented people that you would never meet in other aspects of life. This is why we love filmmaking.

Many filmmakers struggle with time management. So I wanted to share with you a ninja time management trick I recently learned. It works very well for me.

Time management tips that work for me →

If you’re new to filmmaking and feel like you never have time to work on your own projects, try this. Schedule One – 2 hours a day, 5 days a week, for independent film production only. 5 to 10 hours a week is enough.

If you work properly, you can get a lot done during this time. People often say they don’t have time. Get up an hour or two earlier in the morning and you’ll have time. If you are a night owl, work two hours at night. There is always time.

Let’s say you are a morning person and the first thing you do is work. Choose a topic and set a timer for 27 minutes, then add grade-A action to your video production. It could be a script, a budget, an investment plan, a clip from a film that has been filmed, or a schedule for an upcoming film.

Focus on your work without distractions. Set your phone to silent or, preferably, keep it in airplane mode for an hour. Then rest for 5 minutes, then work for 27 minutes, fully focusing on A-level activities.

If you do this five days a week, you’ll make significant progress on the script you’re writing, the script you’re editing, and it will Stop procrastinating.

If you have to go to work, you feel great because you worked for an hour, and maybe you can work another hour later in the day. If you don’t have to work to make a living, and you have free time, work for another hour and see what happens. etc. One or two hours a day of focused work is much better than 10 hours a day of distracting work.

The litmus test is whether you have fun with what you’re doing. If so, it’s certainly easy to continue. Sometimes it takes days for a movie script or edit to create a buzz. This is what happens if you love filmmaking Try the tips above
