There are mysteries and secrets that keep romance alive, but sometimes, it can drive your partner crazy.
This type of secret was the case in When Calls the Heart Season 12 Episode 3, as Rosemary grew increasingly concerned that Lee was hiding something. Rosemary seems annoying as she snoops, but it’s hard not to feel some sympathy for her.
Oliver has his secrets, which affect his ability to become a Mountie. He was lucky that Elizabeth never gave up on anyone and believed in her children’s future.
It’s a pity that more people don’t believe in and support Lucas.
It feels like he’s lost most of his friends, which is something we don’t want to see.
Rosemary suspects something is wrong with Lee
It’s hard to blame Rosemary for being suspicious when her friends accidentally reveal that Lee has an appointment to update his will and a doctor’s appointment with Faith. She may panic and think something is wrong.
It’s fun to watch Rosemary and Elizabeth snoop around town.
They had not learned the art of discretion, and even Elizabeth thought Rosemary should talk to Lee directly. Watching the woman hiding behind a tree and Mike being frightened by the moving bushes was priceless.
She tried to talk to Lee, but he avoided the conversation. He wants to surprise her by building a new Goldie Trail with Mike’s help before she learns about the problems.
This is just part of it. Lee was worried about leaving a legacy for Goldie and having her remember him because his father died when he was young.
A new mystery begins
Season 12 of When Calls the Heart made better use of Ned and Florence. Who knew Ned had a passion for old coins?
I almost felt sad when Rosemary tipped off a customer for paying with a rare gold double-headed eagle, leading to an unexpected mystery.
Weekly promos make the coin mystery sound like a more important case, but it doesn’t begin until the end of the episode.
Bill and Rosemary have made an interesting investigative duo before, so I’m looking forward to seeing them solving robberies instead of murders. While Rosemary was involved in some storylines, Bill needed to do something.
Elizabeth and Nathan learn Oliver’s secret
Oliver has wormed his way into our hearts in just a few episodes. He is a well-respected, hard-working young man. The problem is that he can’t write. Initially, I suspected he had a learning disability.
Elizabeth does the same because she offers to help him, but Oliver doesn’t know how to learn simpler skills like conjugating verbs.
His story angered me, even though it was quite realistic at the time. Many farm workers are needed on the farm, but schooling is not allowed.
So it makes sense that Oliver wanted more out of life and lied about school and his skills to get into the Mounted Police.
Nathan is torn between helping Oliver and his sworn duty as a Mountie, which is to report the truth to his boss, Superintendent Hargraves. We’re relieved that Bill and Elizabeth remind Nathan that it’s his responsibility to train Oliver.
I love how Elizabeth insists that they shouldn’t give up the baby and Nathan tells Hargraves that Oliver accomplished his mission and is a hard, loyal worker.
Nathan and Elizabeth have come a long way and are now mentoring another together. It’s a beautiful moment when Nathan admits how lucky he and Oliver are.
They finally had a private date at Sunset Meadows, a moment fans have been waiting for. This scene was hinted at in the When Calls the Heart season 12 trailer, and the show ended up doing a great job of showcasing the intricacies of their relationship.
Lucas is left out again
We’ve mentioned this before, but Lucas entering politics is a harmful decision.
Since becoming governor, Lucas has been isolating in the capital away from his Hope Valley friends.
When he and Lee started working on the national park project, I had hoped that they would become closer and that we would see more of Lucas’ friendship again.
The idea was crushed like a bug when Lucas once again tried to please all parties instead of delivering on his promises.
He returns to Hope Valley to try to reconcile with Lee, only to find how much has changed.
Mike is the only one who seems happy to see him, and even he is torn between his friendship with Lucas and his loyalty to Lee.
Part of me felt bad for Lucas when they converted his office into a hazelnut storage room, although it’s doubtful Henry meant to offend him. Everyone thought he had moved on.
Lucas needs to learn not to listen to Edwin until he rejects everyone. Edwin implies that Edie Martell is a shark because she cares about ranchers owning the land, which Lucas accuses her of.
This makes their meeting in Hope Valley awkward and humorous. Hopefully, the two can come to a compromise on the national park issue before Lucas loses any more friends.
Other activities in Hope Valley
We love that the younger generation are getting more attention, from promoting their hazelnut business on Rosemary’s show to learning more about the industry.
They’ve grown up, Ellie reiterates, and she wants her first adult birthday party to include both boys and girls. However, if they were making her look like an older teenager, they would have to ditch the braids.
Ellie has Laura Ingalls Syndrome and still has a childish hairstyle. If they want her to look mature and take her seriously like her friends and Earl Wyatt, then it’s time for her to grow up.
Her birthday party should be a blast.
Now it’s your turn, Hatice. What do you think of Lee’s new surprise? Will Lucas reconcile with his friends? Are you excited to see Nathan and Elizabeth share some personal time?
We’d love to hear your thoughts, so please share them with us in the comments below.
