Affleck noted that he rediscovered his love for acting when he first tried directing full-time. He explained:
“I finally started to really love acting, and I was like, ‘I don’t want to do this anymore. I’m just going to direct movies. I’m done with this. I don’t care. I just love directing. And then I was like, ‘Okay,’ I’m already here. “Then I let it go.

“I didn’t understand it at the time, but I know what he means now, which is that a lot of it has to do with letting go, relaxing, trying things and not worrying about what people will think.”
