Samuel L. Jackson feels it’s time to let go of appearances during awards season.
“We’ve been in this business long enough to know that when people go, ‘What an honor it is to be nominated.’ No, it’s not,” Jackson said in the AP video. “It’s an honor to win.”
Jackson went on to say that most people forget about Oscar-nominated performances and even some of the winners. “You get nominated and people say, ‘Yeah, I remember that.’ Or most people forget,” he laughs. “Generally, it’s a game that you don’t volunteer for. I didn’t play there, so I can be flexible. ‘Let me do my scene so you can remember who I am.’ “They nominate you and people ask, ‘What was that movie you nominated? What’s the name of that thing?’ After the competition is over, it’s hard for people to remember who won.”
