Music fans vote in a poll released on Friday (November 22) advertising billboardselected Wizkid’s latest album as their favorite new music release of the past week.
The poll saw competition from different music genres, with Wizkid’s new songbook garnering an impressive 78% of the votes. This week voters chose Morayo New music from ROSÉ, Kendrick Lamar, Lil Nas X, Jack Harlow, Quevedo, Miguel and Jelly Roll, and even a soundtrack to the box-office hit evilfeaturing Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo.
wizard’s Morayoreleased by Starboy Entertainment and RCA Records, is dedicated to the late mother of the Nigerian artist, Juliana Morayo Balogun. Yoruba words Morayo Translated is “I see happiness.”
“It’s very, very personal,” he said of the album’s content in an interview. Esquire All summer long. “I hope it lifts spirits and spreads positivity.”
The 16-track album features collaborations from Jazmine Sullivan, Brent Faiyaz, Asake, Anaïse and Tiakola and is the follow-up to 2022’s More love, less egothe album ranked No. 2 on the World Albums Chart and No. 59 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Morayo Lead single “Piece of My Heart” featuring Brent Faiyaz was released in October ahead of the album’s release and peaked at No. 4 on the U.S. Afrobeat Songs chart and No. 7 in world digital song sales.
Among the backward new music Morayo Ranking second in this week’s voting is ROSÉ’s solo single “Number One Girl” and Kendrick Lamar’s surprise album GNXranked third.
