“When I’m on Instagram and TikTok, I see people—they’re so heartbroken,” Yahritza Martínez tells Apple Music. “I want to make something that they can relate to.”
The teenage singer and her brothers Mando and Jairo comprise Yahritza Y Su Esencia, a Washington-based música mexicana trio who transformed viral fame into chart success earlier this year with the release of their runaway hit “Soy El Único.” A family band in the truest sense, the close-knit group builds off of the members’ respective strengths to form a powerful unit bound by sibling love. This commitment and connection are made all the more clear by their debut ‘Obsessed,’ an EP-length love story told through its mix of cover songs and originals.
