In its 2023 season finale, Yellowjacket Season 2 left fans with more questions than answers.
This thriving thriller leaves viewers questioning whether there are supernatural elements at all, or if we just want them to ease our consciences about some of the characters’ serious misgivings.
There’s no doubt that Yellowjacket is one of the few series in recent times that has dug so deeply into our psyches. So, what’s next? Let’s explore it

Has the Yellow Jackets been renewed?
Following the success of the first season of Yellow Jackets , the Showtime network has announced plans for seasons two and three.
“The success of the first season was so impressive that we quickly greenlighted a third season to maximize momentum,” said Chris McCarthy, CEO and President of Showtime and Paramount Media Networks.

So before season 2 even aired, we knew the next one was coming.
Perhaps this should have prepared many viewers for the major cliffhanger we experienced in the Season 2 finale, “Tell the Story.”
But most of us weren’t prepared for Yellowjacket’s ending, which introduced characters we hadn’t seen since the girls returned from the wild.
Now, our question is, when will we get answers for Season 3?

How does Yellow Jackets season 2 end?
The final episode of Yellowjacket Season 2 left us with some serious unanswered questions.
In the past timeline, we see Ben burning down the cabin and then trying to hide from the madness (perhaps supernatural) that is controlling the girls.
Now, we see the death of adult Natalie. Given Misty’s role in her death, some fans are wondering if Natalie (Lewis) will return in season 3, leaving Misty (Rich) with a guilt trip.

We discover that the woman in the tree haunting Tessa’s (Cypress) son is actually her sleepwalking self. We also see brief scenes of her sleepwalking in the past, leaving some disturbing suspicions for future episodes.
It also sets the stage for her to reconnect with Van (Ambrose), who we haven’t seen so far in the current timeline. In the past, we cheered her on when she survived a brutal bear attack.
When we let her back into our lives, there’s a chance she’ll be gone soon.
Season 2 ended with the announcement that Van had terminal cancer and wasn’t expected to live long. She has zero interest in fighting back. But will Tessa’s presence—and the need for help—change her mind?

Season 3 plot revealed (plus spoilers!)
The Season 2 finale leaves a lot of loose ends to tie up, which means it’s going to be a busy season.
How will this guilt affect Misty’s already unhinged character?
At least she has Walt (Wood) to keep her grounded. Or will he make her even crazier than she already is?
What happened to Ben (Kruger) in the past, and why haven’t we seen him in the current timeline?

Maybe karma caught up with him and he was the cooked but as yet unidentified body we saw at the beginning.
We also want answers to the supernatural undercurrent we’ve witnessed over the past two seasons. What caused the girls to split into hostile groups, and how were they rescued?
Can Tessa overcome her sleepwalking issues and get her family back? Or will she succumb to the wilderness and lose her humanity? Will her reconnection with Van give Van the will to fight off terminal cancer?
She did survive a brutal bear attack.

Yellowjacket Season 3 Album
The first season of Yellow Jackets had ten episodes, while the second season only had nine episodes. The number for Season 3 has not yet been announced, but is expected to be at least nine.
While co-creator Ashley Lyle (@ashannenlyle) teased her fans on Twitter (X), hinting that additional episodes would air sometime before Season 3 is released in 2024, that doesn’t appear to be coming to fruition.
“The Comeback Show” Season 3 Cast
The series features an all-star cast of Critics’ Choice and Emmy Award nominees and winners.
Each protagonist has two timelines, with two actors – an adult and a teenager. But there are still some of the original teen cast members who have yet to appear in the current timeline.

Some returning original characters include:
Shauna — Melanie Lynskey (adult) and Sophie Nelisse (teen)
Tessa – Tawny Cypress (Adult) and Jasmine Savoy Brown (Teen)
Natalie – Sophie Thatcher (Teen) * Juliette Lewis may have made little to no appearances since the death of adult Natalie in Season 2
Misty — Christina Ricci (adult) and Samantha Hanratty (teen)

Lottie — Simone Kessel (adult) and Courtney Eaton (teen)
Fan — Lauren Ambrose (adult) and Liv Hewson (teen)
Other returning characters include:
Walter – Elijah Wood
Ben Scott – Steven Krueger

Travis – Kevin Alves
Jeff – Warren Cole
Several other characters from the ’90s timeline have yet to appear in the present, leaving us wondering which characters will die next in season three.
The creators of Yellowjackets have said they want a five-season series, so it’s unlikely they’ll wipe out the entire ’90s franchise this season. But nothing has been officially announced yet, so there’s no guarantee as to how they’ll handle the storyline.

Yellowjacket Season 3 cast additions
The ending of Season 2 left us wondering if we’d see the demise of the teens in the past timeline, which we haven’t seen yet. The season finale hinted at the difficulties of the cabin burning down.
Will Season 3 introduce new cast members, as the storyline of adulthood hangs in the balance and becomes entangled with Tessa’s chaos?
The character Lottie did hint in season two that only six Yellow Jackets women’s soccer players survived in the wilderness. They were Lottie, Misty, Natalie (now deceased), Van, Shauna and Tessa.
Recently, it was announced that comedian Joel McHale will guest star in season three. However, there aren’t any clues about his role yet.
Hale is best known for his work on “Animal Control,” “Bear,” “House of Scoundrels” and “Crime Kitchen.”
We also know that Hilary Swank will guest star, but other than seeing her bleeding on the side of the road in the new trailer, we don’t know who she will be.
