If you were hoping we were done celebrating cowboy culture in slow motion, you’ll be disappointed in Yellowstone Season 5 Episode 10.
The first half of the episode takes another detour to Texas, where Beth shows up unexpectedly and insists on a one-night date with Rip.
There’s something fun about Texas, and I love Beth and Rip, but come on, Yellowstone! We have a murder to avenge.
Rip’s warning about snakes in Yellowstone Season 5 Episode 10 Symbolizes Real Threat, But It’s Not Enough
The opening scene confused me. I can’t figure out if this is another flashback before John’s death or if Rip is back in Texas now.
It’s a fun scene that I might have enjoyed if I wasn’t so busy figuring out the timeline and how the snake’s entry into Teeter’s tent ties into the ending of Yellowstone Season 5 Episode 9.
In retrospect, the beginning of Apocalypse of Change symbolizes the battle ahead.
The cowboy’s camp is on top of a viper’s den, and the snake crawls into Teeter’s bed because she didn’t do everything in her power to protect herself by opening her tent.
Apparently, that could happen at the ranch if Rip and Beth aren’t careful. Beth even calls Summer a viper later in the episode.
Still, this part of the episode moves at a snail’s pace. The only one going fast was Beth’s car.
This is especially unsettling considering how intense the suspense we’re faced with is.
I wanted to know what was next in the investigation of John’s death and Beth’s desire to get revenge on Jamie, but that didn’t happen until near the end.
What was all this talk about giving up on Yellowstone Ranch Season 5 Episode 10?
I’ve always liked Rip and Beth, so their date was interesting, even though the story didn’t continue logically.
My favorite part was Beth’s insistence that they make their own dance floor if they didn’t already have one. Beth’s refusal to let the lack of others’ paths dictate her own is one of my favorite things about her.
Still, all of Beth’s talk about breaking free from the confines of the ranch is strange.
She seems to want to abandon Yellowstone Ranch and move to Texas, but that doesn’t look like Beth.
In “Yellowstone” season 5, episode 10, Rip declares that he chose to be “tethered” to the ranch, which makes more sense.
I figured after his talk about the death of cowboy culture, he would be more determined than anyone to save the ranch, and I was right.
Rip loved John, who was both his father-in-law and surrogate father, so out of respect for him he wanted to keep the ranch in the family.
However, the ranch also represented the lifestyle Rip loved.
That’s why I didn’t mind all the talk about the demise of the cowboy profession in Yellowstone Season 1 Episode 9; I know it gave Rip strong feelings about the ranch.
He will fight for it until his death. I have no doubt about it, and his attitude toward Yellowstone season 5, episode 10 proves it.
Beth would too. She is her father’s daughter and fought for justice before his death. The only mystery here is why she gave up everything and moved to Texas.
Jamie is too confident and it will come back to bite him
Yellowstone Season 5 Episode 10 begins in the final 15 minutes with Beth confronting Jamie.
The coward stood there and let her punch him in the face over and over again without fighting back or moving, and then told his assistant not to call the police.
He probably knew the police would take his family’s side, not his. Still, it takes a special person to feel confident that he’s going to win, after Beth proved her dominance over him so quickly.
I don’t know why Jamie thought it would be easy to negate the land trust, reinstate the lease, and sell the property to a developer.
Nothing comes easy when Beth is involved, and he knows it.
His overconfidence is good news for Beth.
Their fight for John’s death should be a fight to the death. Jamie has no fighting spirit, ever. All he had was a claim that he probably knew was bullshit, namely how easy it would be to screw everyone over now that John was gone.
Jamie seems to quickly get over his guilt or fear about John’s murder.
He was ready to run for governor in his place and undo everything John had done to protect the ranch. There was no way he could believe that no one would turn against him, especially with Beth off to war.
Please tell me more about this. Stop limiting it to the last few minutes of the hour.
Case is in trouble again…
Yellowstone Season 5 Episode 10 showed that Casey is much the same as ever: caught between Monica’s desire for him to live a moral life and his need to be loyal to John.
Beth, acting as John’s attorney in this case, asks Keith to help her find out the truth about her father’s death, telling him she’s convinced Jamie was involved.
The only difference between this and all the Keys/Monica storylines when John was alive is that Tate is now old enough to understand what’s going on.
It’s hard to believe he was once a seven-year-old obsessed with dinosaur bones. Now, he’s a teenager and his mother wants him to keep an eye on his father so Case doesn’t go down a bad path.
Tate can handle being caught in the middle.
As a young boy, he killed a snake that got stuck in a pipe with him (those rattlesnakes again!), so as a young adult he could handle the conflict. However, it doesn’t seem fair for Monica to involve him in this matter.
I loved the scene when Case and Tate were talking about John.
Case: There’s a lot you don’t know, and a lot I can’t tell you yet, but you just know this. You can focus on the way he lived, or you can focus on the way he died. Your heart cannot have it both ways. You either miss him or you’re angry at him.
While Tate didn’t know half of the things John liked, he probably knew that his grandfather wasn’t usually active.
When he was little he was always sent away so Monica could lie on top of John without him hearing, now that he’s so old he can add two and two together very quickly .
Tate’s decision to miss John instead of being angry with him is indicative of the special bond they have, one that Monica has been afraid they had for years.
There’s also an interesting parallel to Carter, who felt John’s death meant he was abandoned again.
Over to you, Yellowstone fanatics.
Do you think the first half of Apocalypse was as slow as me, or was it just right?
