We first went on this trip in mid-2023 and learned everything there was to know about Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2.
While we finally have a premiere date, news about the spinoff and what comes next has been fluctuating. CBS even had a special screening of the premiere of Part Two!
Let’s take a look at what we know so far.
Has Yellowstone been updated?
Yellowstone has not been updated yet. But it might not be canceled either.
The unknown world we find ourselves in now is the result of behind-the-scenes drama between series creator Taylor Sheridan and Darden patriarch Kevin Costner.
Initially, it was claimed that Kevin Costner did not want to commit to six more episodes, with reports that he was only offered a small amount of free time.
Representatives for the actor denied these claims, claiming that Sheridan had not yet completed the script, which made filming unjustifiable. It was later revealed that the series would end after the fifth season of Yellowstone .
This wasn’t always the plan, and it was likely a decision made when the show seemed unable to continue with its current behind-the-scenes drama.
It is said that the show was originally planned to have seven seasons so that the story could have a natural ending.
This is very likely to happen. At the very least, it’s a safe bet that the show will continue, taking our favorite characters with it.
We even know how they were able to extend the Dutton family’s chaos to black sheep Jamie.
If we thought these thoughts, we’re sure Sheridan felt them too.
When will Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 premiere?
“Yellowstone” Season 5 Episode 9 will premiere on Sunday, November 10, 2024.
It’s been a long wait, and it’s going to be even longer, and we really don’t know what’s going to happen next. A first-look photo doesn’t reveal much, other than that Jamie is still breathing and holding a press conference.
Of course, Kevin Costner is absent, and the lead characters show the future of the series: Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler.
With the show taking such a dramatic turn since the first part of season five, our minds are racing with possibilities. We’re not sure if this will increase excitement about returning, increase anxiety about a good (season? series?) ending, or both.
Will Kevin Costner return for Yellowstone season 5 part 2?
Kevin Costner will not return for the final season.
Whether this is a good decision for him remains to be seen, but the obvious reason he’s not committing to an ending is his four-part historical big screen epic Horizon Legend.
The first one wasn’t well-received, and since he financed the film heavily himself, leaving Yellowstone to pursue his passion was a huge gamble.
At this point, we can’t imagine what this means for the show. How will John Dutton’s story end? Only Sheridan and the actors know.
The tension was high at the end of Yellowstone Season 5 Episode 8, and when Jamie once again clashed with his family, it didn’t seem like he would have a hard time killing John. After all, he had killed his biological father. What is the image of another deceased father?
While it makes sense not to kill off the patriarch, Sheridan created a universe that thrives on unexpected deaths, and when a man feels he’s been wronged, what’s better than killing him off from the most popular series What’s his better way to overcome it?
Of course, everything changes if the men get together for a cup of coffee. Such is life. You never know until you know.
If this happens, I expect it will be a closely guarded secret to ensure fans won’t be left feeling hugely disappointed again if anything goes wrong.

As we said, this is a stacked cast.
We decided not to remove Kevin Costner entirely. When the truth comes out, we can remove those strikeout lines or his entire entry.
But Costner’s departure doesn’t mean the end of John Dutton. Josh Lucas, who has played young John Dutton since the first season of “Yellowstone,” told Deadline he contacted Sheridan and the door wasn’t open when Sheridan returned closure.
Lucas’ portrayal of young Dutton is fantastic, and we’re excited to hear he might be back.
Is Yellowstone canceled?
Since news broke that the show was going off the air, there have been reports that a spinoff with Matthew McConaughey is in the works. Well, now sources reveal that this was never close to becoming a reality.
There’s also talk of Michelle Pfeiffer playing a role in the spinoff, but recent news has it that she’s starring in another Seridan series, Madison, and that casting is underway.
There’s news that another spin-off series is coming, starring Kelly Reilly, Cole Hauser, and Luke Grimes, who were all reportedly close to finalizing the deal, but even then, this happened change.
The latest word on the street is that they are considering canceling Yellowstone. Honestly, we don’t know what to believe anymore!
How many episodes of Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 have been ordered?
While many thought we’d get six more episodes, Taylor Sheridan hinted it could be bigger.
“If I think it’s going to take ten episodes to wrap up, they’ll give me ten,” Sheridan explained to The Hollywood Reporter in June 2023.
“As long as it takes.”
Unless something changes, it now looks like the number of episodes will be capped at six. It’s not the best news for fans, but if Sheridan is happy with how the story ended and wants to continue with the Dutton kids, we’re here!
Is there a trailer for Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2?
At first, there were a lot of trailers, but none of them had new footage.
Given the secrecy surrounding how these final episodes will unfold, it’s hard to imagine that the trailer wouldn’t give away too much and ruin the viewer experience.
How do you promote the final episodes after such a crazy turn? This is not an easy question to answer.
PR teams are the first to deliver this type of content.
But recently, they released a trailer for Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2, which actually contains some new footage.
It still doesn’t tell us much, but that’s to be expected.
Hey, we’re excited to see Costner back at Dutton Ranch, possibly for the last time.

Where can I watch Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2?
Yellowstone is a Paramount Network original series, so you’ll need cable to watch it live.
However, CBS decided to premiere it on CBS the same night it aired on the Paramount Network, albeit on October 9, after the Tracker episode. Broadcast day and night. Yellowstone’s special appearance will precede an episode of “The Equalizer” until a later date.
Given the huge success of the series, they didn’t need to spread the love, but they aired Yellowstone seasons one and two very successfully on CBS.
Of course, if you watch it on CBS, expect it to be slightly different than the Paramount Network version. The show is known for its crude language and CBS needs to clean it up.
