Zayn Malik canceled his solo concert in Newcastle, England just minutes before his performance on Tuesday night (December 3).
Over the past few weeks, the former One Direction member has embarked on a solo tour across the UK, his first major gig since leaving the pop band in 2015.
MRT According to reports, the last-minute cancellation of the game was announced to fans at Newcastle City Hall Stadium. “Tonight’s show will not be taking place. We apologize for the late announcement and he hoped to be able to continue. But this is no longer possible,” fans were told.
“Please contact your point of purchase for rescheduling or refund. If you have a parent or guardian coming to pick you up, please stay in the auditorium to wait for pick up.
Zayn shared a statement on his Instagram Stories and said the reason for the cancellation was poor health. “I’m sorry to do this, but my voice was not at all tonight, and without it there would be no show,” he said. “I’m really sorry to let you down, especially in such a short space of time… I held out hope until the very end. I was hoping to take a break tonight and be back on stage tomorrow. My deepest apologies Newcastle Love All of you xx”
Malik will play in Manchester on Wednesday (December 4) and later this week (December 8-9) at the O2 Academy in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Malick has already performed in Leeds, London and Wolverhampton on tour. Following the sudden death of his former One Direction bandmate Liam Payne in October, the Edinburgh show opening has been postponed from November 20 and 21 to December.
Malik, who attended Payne’s funeral on November 20 with his former 1D bandmates, paid tribute to Payne at his show in Leeds and left a message on stage that read “Love you brother” and Dates of birth and death of deceased band members. The tour is scheduled to continue to North America in January 2025, with stops including New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and San Francisco.
