Viltrox has unveiled new Silver Editions of three popular Air series prime lenses for the Fujifilm X mount. The refreshed lineup includes the AF 9mm F/2.8 Air XF, AF 15mm F/1.7 Air XF, and AF 25mm F/1.7 Air XF, all featuring a retro-inspired silver finish to better complement Fujifilm’s classic camera designs.

The new color option is aimed at photographers who prefer pairing silver lenses with cameras such as the X-E5, X-T50, X-T5, and X-M5, giving the setup a more cohesive vintage aesthetic. These three new lenses join the AF 35mm F/1.7 Air XF and AF 56mm F/1.7 Air XF that have the Silver finish.

    Same Optics, New Retro Finish

The Silver Editions are purely a cosmetic update. Viltrox has left the optical designs and internal components unchanged, meaning buyers can expect the same image quality and autofocus performance as the existing black versions.

The minimalist silver finish pairs naturally with Fujifilm’s retro styling while maintaining the compact, lightweight design that has made the Air series popular among travel and everyday photographers.

    Affordable Everyday Prime Lenses

The Air series is designed to provide photographers with lightweight, affordable autofocus prime lenses without sacrificing image quality. All three lenses retail for under $250, making them an accessible entry point for photographers looking to build a prime lens kit.

Their compact size also makes them ideal everyday carry lenses, especially when paired with Fujifilm’s smaller APS-C bodies.

    AF 9mm F/2.8 Air XF

The AF 9mm F/2.8 Air XF delivers a 13.5mm full-frame equivalent focal length with an expansive 113.8-degree angle of view.

Its optical design consists of 13 elements in 11 groups, including three ED elements, three high-refractive-index elements, and two aspherical elements to minimize chromatic aberration while improving sharpness and contrast.

The ultra-wide focal length makes it well suited for landscapes, architecture, interiors, and street photography.

    AF 15mm F/1.7 Air XF

Offering a 22.5mm full-frame equivalent, the AF 15mm F/1.7 Air XF is designed for travel, street photography, landscapes, and everyday shooting.

The lens features 12 elements in 10 groups, including three ED elements, three high-refractive-index elements, and two aspherical elements to suppress flare, ghosting, and optical aberrations. A nine-bladed aperture diaphragm helps produce smoother background blur.

    AF 25mm F/1.7 Air XF

The AF 25mm F/1.7 Air XF provides a 37.5mm full-frame equivalent focal length, making it the closest of the trio to a standard perspective.

Its optical construction also consists of 12 elements in 10 groups, including one ED element, two high-refractive-index elements, and two aspherical elements. Viltrox says the lens is optimized for video, with minimal focus breathing for smoother focus transitions.

The focal length makes it a versatile option for street photography, documentary work, travel, portraits, and everyday photography.

    Fast Autofocus in Lightweight Bodies

All three lenses feature STM autofocus motors, providing fast, quiet, and accurate focusing for both still photography and video. They also support Eye AF and Face Detection on compatible Fujifilm cameras.

The lenses use lightweight plastic barrels with aluminum-alloy lens mounts for improved durability. Each lens also includes a USB-C port for future firmware updates.

    Pricing and Availability

The Silver Edition lenses are priced the same as their black counterparts:

    • Viltrox AF 9mm F/2.8 Air XF: $199
    • Viltrox AF 15mm F/1.7 Air XF: $239
    • Viltrox AF 25mm F/1.7 Air XF: $176

The new Silver Editions are exclusive to the Fujifilm X mount and are available through the Viltrox online store and major retailers including B&H Photo.
