Ahead of the highly anticipated launch of the X500 series next month, vivo is actively building hype by pulling back the curtain on its next-generation smartphone cameras. In its latest promotional push, the tech giant detailed the impressive telephoto capabilities of both the vivo X500 Pro and the flagship X500 Pro Max, signaling a major leap forward for mobile photographers.

The X500 Pro: Precision and Speed

For the standard vivo X500 Pro, the company has confirmed the inclusion of a 64-megapixel APO telephoto camera powered by a custom Sony LYT-610 sensor. Building upon the successful APO technology previously utilized in the X100 Pro, this new iteration introduces a unique GG 1×1 and RB 2×2 pixel structure. According to vivo executives, this specialized pixel arrangement significantly enhances autofocus performance, ensuring sharper subjects in fleeting moments.

Shooters can expect an 85mm focal length capable of capturing uncropped, full-resolution 64-megapixel images. Furthermore, the X500 Pro is heavily leaning into high-end videography, supporting 4K slow-motion recording at a buttery 120 frames per second, alongside standard 4K HDR output at 60fps. To keep these high-resolution shots and videos remarkably steady, vivo has integrated advanced CIPA 7.0 image stabilization.

The X500 Pro Max: Unrivaled Zoom and Dynamic Range

Moving up to the premium vivo X500 Pro Max, the company is pulling no punches. This top-tier model inherits the massive 1/1.4-inch, 200-megapixel Samsung HP0 sensor that made waves in the vivo X300 Ultra. Paired with the same robust CIPA 7.0 stabilization found in the Pro model, the Pro Max features an overhauled image capture pipeline optimized to deliver pristine details at up to 30x magnification. Enthusiasts will also be pleased to know that it supports the 400mm teleconverter functionality introduced on the X300 Ultra.

Beyond the telephoto lens, vivo dropped another major hardware revelation for the Pro Max. The flagship device will debut the all-new Phantom 900 sensor—a custom piece of silicon co-developed by Sony and vivo’s in-house Blueprint imaging team. Designed to push the boundaries of smartphone lighting capture, this sensor reportedly delivers a staggering 17EV of dynamic range, promising unparalleled detail in both deep shadows and harsh highlights.

With the official launch just weeks away, vivo is positioning the X500 series as a dominant force in the mobile photography space.
