Tanweer has unveiled the official teaser trailer and poster for SWELL, the new feature film directed by Alexandros Voulgaris (‘The Boy’), produced by Tanweer Productions and Black Orange, co-produced by Creative Greece (EKKOMED) and Onassis Culture, in collaboration with Netflix
Based on the celebrated novel by Ioanna Karystiani, one of Greece’s most acclaimed contemporary writers, SWELL brings one of modern Greek literature’s most beloved works to the screen through a screenplay written by the author herself.
Captain Mitsos Avgoustis has spent 12 years navigating the Pacific Ocean, unable to leave behind the life that has defined him.
Estranged from his family, in constant conflict with his shipping company and fiercely devoted to the 22 sailors aboard the cargo vessel ATHOS III, he refuses to abandon the sea.
As memories begin to blur with reality, he finds himself confronting loss, unfinished love and the secrets that continue to shape his life.
The film’s title refers to the maritime term “swell”— the long, deep ocean waves that continue traveling long after the storm has passed— becoming a powerful metaphor for memory, longing, and everything that refuses to disappear.
