Live streaming specialist Spiritland Productions recently managed the broadcast audio production for the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, which was produced by Livewire Pictures for BBC1.

The three-week celebration is attended by over 200,000 people every year and a further 100 million watch the TV broadcast worldwide.

Spiritland worked closely with the show’s creative director, Alan Lane, musical director, Nick Grace OBE, and composer and arranger, Tom Hodge on the project, which ran from 7-29 August and featured a daily 90-minute show with a range of acts from over 50 countries.

Spiritland’s crew was onsite 13-15 August, with the Spiritland ONE audio broadcast truck processing over 335 audio inputs from stage.

The company captured audio from the stage across MADI, Dante and Analogue. The performance featured a wide range of instruments, from massed pipes and drums to bagpipes, brass bands, woodwind instruments and some modern electronic instruments.

Alongside this audio capture, Spiritland also mixed and edited the official 2026 CD, which will soon be available to buy on the Military Tattoo’s online shop.
