Guy Ritchie has been particularly prolific lately, and Black Bear has dropped the teaser trailer for his latest film, Wife and Dog, which will be his sixth movie in just three years. The man loves to work.
All About Wife and Dog
The upcoming thriller, which Ritchie wrote and directed, stars Benedict Cumberbatch (The Roses), Rosamund Pike (Ladies First), Cosmo Jarvis (Shōgun), James Norton (House of the Dragon), Paddy Considine (MobLand), and Anthony Hopkins (The Father). The film is said to deal with “the relentless greed of the Fairbank family and their associates sparking betrayal and murder in a succession battle.“
Wife and Dog wrapped production over a year ago and was originally slated to hit theaters this October, but Black Bear has given the film a new release date. It will now hit theaters on February 19, 2027.
Guy Ritchie’s Projects
As I mentioned above, Ritchie has been pretty busy these last few years. He released two films in 2023, Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre and The Covenant, which were followed by The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, Fountain of Youth, and In The Grey.
And that’s not to mention his television projects. He created The Gentlemen, based on his movie of the same name, and has written and directed multiple episodes over the show’s first two seasons. That show has already been renewed for a third season. And then there’s MobLand, which is about to drop its second season on Paramount+ on September 18 and has been renewed for season 3. Finally, there’s Young Sherlock, which, as the title suggests, follows the future master detective as a young man at Oxford University. Once again, that show has been renewed for a second season.
He’s also got another TV series in early development at Amazon MGM Studios. The series is titled Capital, and although not much is known at this time, it’s said to be a crime drama exploring the underbelly of modern-day London. Sounds like Ritchie’s wheelhouse. He’s co-creating and co-writing the series alongside Rob Williams and will also direct and produce the series.
Meanwhile, I’m wondering whether I need to take out the garbage or just push it down again…
