    Farm Soho in administration

Farm Soho was placed in administration last week and the staff informed.

Based in Great Marlborough Street, Farm Soho was best known for providing audio and picture post for HETV episodic drama. The post house included a theatrical Dolby Atmos mixing stage, 4K DI screening theatres, and four specialized Baselight colour grading suites. The team’s credits include picture and audio post for Netflix’ Black Mirror (when still part of Picture Shop), Sky’s Under Salt Marsh, picture post for HBO and BBC’s Industry, and audio post for Amazon’s Young Sherlock.

The Great Marlborough Street building had originally operated under the name Grand Central Sound Studios as a high-end and acclaimed advertising audio post specialist. The building was acquired by Granary Media under the leadership of Simon Kanjee and David Barrett in June 2024 ahead of extensive refurbishment to create a high-end post house for longform customers and rebranded Grand Central.

In February 2025, Granary Media acquired what had been Picture Shop facilities in Newman Street, Lexington Street and Cardiff. The Lexington Street staff were moved into the newly refurbished Great Marlborough Street offices. See https://www.televisual.com/news/granary-media-buys-streamlands-london-cardiff-operations/

Grand Central, still owned by Granary Media was rebranded as Farm Soho in June 2025. See https://www.televisual.com/news/grand-central-joins-the-farm-brand/

Many of the team are also known for working at what was Technicolor Creative Services (Technicolor London), previous to being acquired by Streamland in 2021 and being incorporated within the Picture Shop group of companies.

Picture Shop, owned by Streamland still operates managed post services and dailies in the UK.

Farm Soho is not to be confused with sister company, Farm Post in Newman Street which recently announced a new investor. See https://www.televisual.com/news/the-farm-secures-new-investment-simon-kanjee-exits/.

Both companies posted a Notice of Intention to appoint an administrator on the 17th July this year, since when the management team had looked to find a new investor. With the second of two possible new investors for the Great Marlborough Street site and staff falling through early last week, the company was placed in administration. Joint Managing Director, Simon Kanjee relinquished his directorship last month.

Farm Soho Managing Director, David Barrett said: “With the loss of our Hilco investment, combined with the extremely challenging market conditions facing the post-production sector, it is with enormous sadness that we have been forced to close Farm Soho.

“We worked tirelessly to secure new investment for both locations and believed we had found a way forward for Farm Soho. Unfortunately, that investor withdrew at the final stage, leaving us with no

“Since relocating the facility from Picture Shop on Lexington Street, the team created something genuinely special at Farm Soho. I am immensely proud of what they achieved over the past 18 months and of the determination, commitment and professionalism they showed as we fought to build a sustainable future for the business.

“What is hardest is the human cost. At an already incredibly challenging time for the post-production industry, it is devastating to see so many talented people lose their jobs. This is an exceptional team of people who gave everything to Farm Soho, right through to the end. I cannot thank them enough, and I sincerely hope their talent and experience are quickly recognised elsewhere in the industry.

“I would also like to thank all of our clients who continued to support and believe in us throughout what has been an extraordinarily difficult period. I am deeply sorry that, despite everyone’s efforts, we were unable to achieve the outcome we had worked so hard for.

“Finally, I wish the team at Farm Post Newman Street every success for the future. They are another enormously talented group of people, and I hope the industry continues to support them.

“This is a painful moment, not just for everyone at Farm Soho, but for a post-production community that has already lost far too many talented people and facilities. I very much hope we can find ways, as an industry, to protect the skills, creativity and people that have made UK post-production what it is.”
