Full Trailer for ‘Gamer Girls’ Esports Team Hong Kong Action Fantasy
“United in defeat! United in victory!” Film Movement has revealed the official US trailer for a Hong Kong fantasy action thriller movie titled Gamer Girls, about five gamer girls on an e-sports team kicking butt. From first-time directors Veronica Bassetto and Sophie Yang, Gamer Girls debuted at the 2025 Hong Kong Asian Film Festival, then it played at the 2026 Rotterdam Film Festival (IFFR) before opening March in HK. This is a story of 5 passionate girls fighting hard in the gaming world, hoping to break the social stereotype. Follows the members of a disbanded all-female esports team called Dollhouse (Summer, Raven, Kaki, Lilith, Miko) who decide to get back together under the new banner “Gamer Girls”. They transform a local Hong Kong cha chaan teng (cafe) into an improvised gaming and tournament hub. However, just before official Hong Kong esports team selections, a sweeping account suspension by the gaming authority threatens to wipe out their progress and bar local players, setting off a battle for their virtual & real-world community. Starring Angela Yuen (Summer), Alma Kwok (Lilith), Sabrina Cheung (Raven), Wing-Sze Ng (Kaki), Jeannie Ka-Yan Ng (Miko), CY Chan, and others. This looks like fun! Lots of VFX heavy action in here.

Though disbanded, the five members of the all-female esports team Dollhouse can’t deny their passion for gaming — or their camaraderie — and decide to get the gang back together for one last shot at greatness. Facing a myriad of logistical & political obstacles, the rechristened Gamer Girls go indie, launching their own competition at a local teahouse and breathing new life into gaming. However, when the e-gaming authority threatens to bar the girls from competing, all bets are off and they find themselves in a vicious battle for their virtual lives. The directorial debut of creative voice Veronica Bassetto and professional screenwriter Sophie Yang, Gamer Girls offers an exciting blend of high-stakes competitive gaming with the rich flavor of old school Hong Kong culture. Balancing interpersonal drama with the flashy spectacle of its virtual fantasy worlds, it’s an impassioned thrill ride of inspiring dreams, ambitions and friendship.
Gamer Girls, also known as 電競女孩 in Cantonese, is directed by the two filmmakers Veronica Bassetto & Sophie Yang, both making their first feature film. The screenplay is from Veronica Bassetto. Produced by Jacqueline Liu. Made by Stay Hungry Keep Foolish Limited. This initially premiered at the 2025 Hong Kong Asian Film Festival last year, and it also played at IFFR this year. Film Movement debuts this Gamer Girls movie direct-to-VOD in the US starting November 11th, 2026. For more info, visit the official site.
