Got an idea for a Straight 8 film?
Develop it in the Glance Film Script Lab through industry mentorship, masterclasses and peer feedback. Apply with either a 30-second proof of concept film or a 30-second video pitch for the chance to join the lab. Selected applicants will take part in the 2026/27 Autumn/Winter Script Lab, developing their projects before receiving a small production budget to produce an entry for the next Straight 8 competition.
For the last four years, Glance Film has backed, developed and produced Straight 8 films from a new wave of emerging talent in the UK and internationally. Through a script lab model, writers, directors and creative teams develop ideas from early treatments through to shooting scripts. Several films have gone on to screen at Cannes, LSFF and BFI IMAX to packed audiences.
Now partnering with BFI NETWORKship elements of the lab, Glance Film is calling London-based talent in writing and directing to apply for a new cohort starting in October 2026
