Emilie Anthonis will succeed Stan McCoy as the new president and managing director of the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Film Association (MPA), the MPA said on Monday.

Antonis will take over on January 1, 2025.

McCoy said in a statement: “After leading what is undoubtedly the most skilled trade association in EMEA in the areas of public policy, anti-piracy and all other specialized areas, I am proud to take over baton.

“I look forward to serving MPA members in my new capacity while continuing to build on the team spirit that Stan inspired across all of our MPA EMEA operations,” Antonis said. “Europe is a very important market for MPA members, They have a long history of storytelling and collaboration in the region.”

Prior to joining MPA in 2017, Antonis served as Director of Legal and Public Affairs for the European Association of Commercial Television (ACT). Her career also includes working as in-house counsel at Viacom and as an intellectual property attorney specializing in copyright and media law at a Brussels law firm.

MPA Chairman and CEO Charles Rivkin expressed confidence in Antonis’ appointment, citing her extensive experience in the European audiovisual sector and her reputation as a creative industry advocate.

“Emilie is a veteran of the MPA and the European audiovisual industry, and she has earned a strong reputation as a strong advocate for the creative industries, an expert on policy development, a respected voice in European capitals and a leader with integrity,” Rifkin said . “[She is] She is ready to take charge of our operations and be an effective voice for our industry in the region, and I have every confidence in her ability to continue to advance the MPA’s priorities, lead our policy engagement and assist our member studios with their stakeholders to establish partnerships.

Based in Brussels, Antonis will report to Gail MacKinnon, senior executive vice president of global policy and government affairs. In her new role, Antonis will be responsible for driving the MPA’s priorities, leading policy engagement and fostering partnerships between member studios and stakeholders across Europe and beyond.

The MPA lobbies lawmakers on behalf of its member studios: Netflix, Paramount Worldwide, Sony Pictures, Universal Pictures, Walt Disney Studios, Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, as well as Warner Bros. Discovery Channel.
