Man of Tomorrow wraps
The DC Universe is chugging along as James Gunn revealed to his fans weeks ago that the Superman sequel, Man of Tomorrow, has wrapped. He posted pictures of the cast and crew on his Threads account with the caption, “That’s a wrap on principal photography for Man of Tomorrow. Truly a joyful experience and I have immense gratitude to my cast and crew. First photo: nicholashoult jumped in the lake after last shot. Second photo: The brain trust (except Brian) around video village during the whole shoot. They make making movies fun.”
James Gunn is writing the next DC movie
Now that Man of Tomorrow is in post-production, you’d assume that Gunn is focusing on that process, but ever the multi-tasker, Gunn has confirmed that he’s also in the process of writing the next movie in the DC Universe.
According to <a href="https://variety.com/2026/film/news/james-gunn-next-project-superman-man-of-tomorrow-1236898696/” rel=”nofollow noopener” target=”_blank”>Variety, Gunn responded to a fan on Threads who asked him, “Are you ready to write your next film, James, or not quite yet?” Gunn answered,
Already in it. I had to do something while I was waiting for the assembly!”
Gunn also confirmed that the assembly cut of Man of Tomorrow was also recently completed.
Gunn and Peter Safran stay on DC after the WB Merger
One of the biggest stories last week is the merger of Paramount and Warner Bros. forging ahead under the company umbrella of Skydance. Not long after the announcements of the legacy studios becoming sub-brands, Gunn and his DC partner Peter Safran recently sat down for a crucial meeting with Skydance co-CEO David Ellison to discuss their tenure, and by all accounts, it went exceptionally well. This major changing of the guard finds all film units across Paramount and Warner Bros. reporting directly to Paramount Pictures co-chairs Dana Goldberg and Josh Greenstein. Through all the corporate shuffling, Gunn and Safran remain firmly anchored at the helm of DC Studios.
Gunn would even repost Ellison’s Skydance announcement video “What once was the peak…” with Michael B. Jordan’s narration on his own social media.
What do you think Gunn’s next movie is? Who would you like him to work on next?
