Miss. (WXXV)- You might not expect to find a Hollywood production right here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, but that’s exactly what’s happening
Cameras are rolling on a new thriller called ‘The Sleeping Dogs of Southampton.”
WXXV News 25’s Chloe Carter spent the day on set, getting in on behind the scenes action and exclusive details.
For some, bringing a Hollywood production to the Mississippi Gulf Coast might sound unexpected. For one Biloxi native, it’s a dream that’s now becoming reality.
‘The Sleeping Dogs of Southampton’ is a thriller centered on two New York investment bankers caught up in high-stakes business deals and a complicated relationship.
Now, the production is putting parts of the Mississippi Gulf Coast in the spotlight.
The impact could reach beyond the big screen, bringing a production like this to the Coast means more than cameras and crew members. It also creates an opportunity to put local businesses, workers, and the community in the spotlight.
It’s not just the filming that has people talking. There have also been reports of recognizable actors spotted around the area, adding to the buzz surrounding a project that’s already generating excitement.
For Director David Lipper, this project is part of a bigger picture. “The Sleeping Dogs of Southampton’ isn’t his first film project in Mississippi. He says he wants to continue bringing productions here and introducing more people to what the state has to offer.
From its scenery to its people, South Mississippi is showing it has more to offer than many might expect.
While audiences may have to wait until late 2027 or 2028 to see ‘The Sleeping Dogs of Southampton’ on the big screen, the production is already giving the Gulf Coast a chance to be part of the Hollywood spotlight.
