Saint Petersburg State University of Industrial Technology and Design presented the professional profile of its graduate Angela Orlova, production editor at Detskoye Vremya publishing house and collaborator at the Dom Detskoy Knigi foundation. Her career connects academic training in publishing and book trade with audio fiction and children’s narrative projects in the Russian market.
Publishing, audio fiction and subscriptions: the technical workflow 🎧
Orlova’s career includes projects for Yandex Knigi and subscription editions with MIF AST and Limbus Press. In the audio field she has edited audio series such as Magazin rabotayet do nastupleniya tmy and Tsikady, where the technical work encompasses script coordination, recording supervision and narrative pacing adjustment. She is also part of the organizing committee of the Kak khorosho umet pisat festival, a space that connects the training of new authors with the editorial production processes she herself applies in her daily work.
When your childhood in Vyborg turns you into an audio fiction editor 🎙️
They say growing up in Vyborg predisposes one to stories of atmosphere and suspense, and Orlova seems to have taken that theory literally. Between proofreading children’s manuscripts and assembling audio series best listened to with the lights off, her career shows that a publishing chair can lead to soundscapes far less silent than expected.
