Ainak Wala Jin creator Hafeez Tahir outraged by PTV’s AI-generated film about beloved show
He said he was not approached for permission by the filmmaker, nor was he asked to be part of the production.

An AI-generated Ainak Wala Jin movie, touted on IMDB as Asia’s first AI-generated feature-length film, is not being celebrated by the creator of the original series. In fact, Hafeez Tahir is quite angry about it.
In a video shared to his Instagram account on Thursday, the veteran television producer, director and writer blasted the director and writer of the new film, Farhan Khan, for not asking his permission.
Calling it “daylight robbery”, he said Ainak Wala Jin, the beloved series that ran on PTV from 1993 to 1996, was his idea, his concept and his creation. “I am the concept writer, I named it, directed it and created a good quality serial, gave it to PTV and they made millions off it. If you go to their YouTube page, it still makes millions for the channel,” he said.
The film released in cinemas on July 24. Tahir said the director of the film, Khan, did not ask him for permission before making it, nor did PTV ask him to be part of the production.
“They got a novice to make an AI-based film and made a mess of my iconic idea,” he said, pointing to major changes in the characters’ appearances and voices.
“My main character, Nastoor Jin, looks like a daku and Hamoon Jadoogar’s face has been ruined, the voices have been ruined,” he lamented, adding that they’ve created “bad music” using AI and added it as well.
“They have taken a great and beautiful idea and destroyed it,” said Tahir. He ended his video with a question — “should I just wail about it and remain silent or do I take the legal route?”
