The 12-track collector edition also features INXS, Echo & The Bunnymen, Suzanne Vega with Joe Jackson and Otis Redding, expanding one of the defining alternative soundtracks of the 1980s

The soundtrack to Pretty in Pink is getting a new limited pink glitter-filled vinyl edition bringing together OMD, The Psychedelic Furs, New Order, The Smiths, INXS, Echo & The Bunnymen, Suzanne Vega, Joe Jackson and Otis Redding on one 12-track release.
The new pressing is available exclusively through The Sound of Vinyl in the United States, where it is currently listed for $59.98 as a pre-order and limited to four copies per customer.
The release brings together some of the defining alternative and new wave names associated with the 1986 film, including Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD), The Psychedelic Furs, New Order, INXS, The Smiths, Echo & The Bunnymen and Suzanne Vega.
It also retains the two bonus songs added to the expanded 40th anniversary edition earlier this year: Otis Reddings Try a Little Tenderness and Talk Backs Rudy. Both were heard in the film but were absent from the original soundtrack album.
This is not the first anniversary pressing of Pretty in Pink released during 2026.
UMe launched the 40th anniversary campaign earlier this year with a limited Pretty in Baby Pink 1LP housed in a gatefold sleeve featuring film photography, alongside a standard black-vinyl edition. The pink version expanded the original 10-song album to 12 tracks with the Redding and Talk Back additions.
That earlier limited pink edition is currently listed as sold out through the Interscope Records store.
The new Sound of Vinyl edition takes a different physical approach, using a pink glitter-filled disc as its central collector feature.
Importantly, The Sound of Vinyl describes this specifically as glitter-filled vinyl. It does not describe it as liquid-filled, and Rockum is therefore keeping the terminology exactly as provided by the retailer.
Music was central to Pretty in Pink from the beginning.
John Hughes wrote the screenplay after being inspired by The Psychedelic Furs Pretty in Pink, a song Molly Ringwald had brought to his attention. The American Film Institute documents Hughes discussing that connection in contemporary production material.
The Psychedelic Furs recorded a new version of the song for the film, while OMDs If You Leave became another of the soundtracks defining recordings.
The album also brought together New Orders Shell-Shock, INXSs Do Wot You Do, Echo & The Bunnymens Bring on the Dancing Horses and The Smiths Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want.

For collectors, this edition brings together two different attractions: an unusual physical presentation and one of the most recognizable alternative-music soundtracks of the 1980s.
Rather than simply repressing the original 10-track LP in another color, the glitter-filled edition uses the expanded 12-song anniversary configuration, preserving two songs heard in the movie but missing from the original soundtrack release.
And with The Psychedelic Furs, OMD, New Order, The Smiths, INXS and Echo & The Bunnymen sharing a single record, Pretty in Pink remains as much a snapshot of mid-’80s alternative music as it is a film soundtrack.
Forty years after Pretty in Pink, its soundtrack continues to work both as movie history and as a compact collection of 1980s new wave and alternative music.
The new pink glitter-filled vinyl gives the 40th anniversary edition another distinctly collectible physical form while retaining the expanded tracklist introduced earlier in 2026.
No pressing quantity has been announced, but at $59.98 and as a Sound of Vinyl exclusive, this version is clearly being positioned as a specialty collector release rather than another standard soundtrack repress.
