Back in 1976, the year the Kingdome had its grand opening and downtown Seattle’s Freeway Park made its July 4 debut to coincide with the national bicentennial celebration, Seattle became home to another gem: a film festival where local moviegoers, including kids and families, could discover films largely produced outside the major Hollywood studio system.
