Game sound specialist Changjo Gongjakso announced on the 28th that it will host the ‘1st AI Game Sound Design Challenge with GXG 2026 (AI GSDC).’

The competition is hosted by Changjo Gongjakso, co-organized by AI platform developer Odia and indie musician platform Likers, and sponsored by GXG 2026, Com2uS Platform, Microsoft, Morisawa, and the Korea Mobile Game Association.

‘AI GSDC’ is a creative competition where participants use the game sound design platform ‘Gamesound.ai’ to create new sound designs for official game footage provided by participating game companies. Participants select their preferred game video and produce original background music (BGM), sound effects (SFX), and voiceovers (VOICE) to complete their entries.

Twelve game companies are participating as video sponsors: Com2uS, Haegin, AK Interactive, NDREAM, Blue Potion Games, StoryTaco, Tripod Games, Dreamotion, RedZingo Games, Hypercent, Birdletter, and Ubis. Participants will showcase their sound design skills by reinterpreting the scenes and atmosphere of the provided game footage through their own unique music, sound effects, and voice work.

Registration for the competition has been open since July 24. Participants can enter as individuals or in teams of up to five. Using Gamesound.ai, they must create all sounds—including BGM, SFX, and voice—for the provided game footage and submit the completed video and project files by 11:59 PM on August 23.

The preliminary round will be held from August 24 to 25, evaluated by a panel of experts, with the Top 10 finalists announced on August 26. The final winners will be determined by a combination of online voting (50%) and expert evaluation (50%), with the final announcement and awards ceremony taking place on September 12 at the GXG 2026 main stage (Pangyo Station Square).

The competition features over ₩17.45 million in cash prizes and benefits. Awards include ₩3 million in cash for one Gold prize winner, ₩1 million for one Silver (Hive) prize winner, and ₩500k each for two Bronze prize winners. Additional prizes and benefits include Gamesound AI Ultra subscriptions, Hive credits, Xbox Series S consoles, and Nintendo Switch two units.

The Gamesound.ai platform used in the competition is a game sound production tool featuring a library of approximately 20k sounds, AI-based BGM/SFX/voice generation, AI sound search, multi-track audio editing, middleware integration, and project management tools. It supports the entire process from sound discovery to generation, editing, and management within a single platform.

Co-organizer Likers is an integrated D2F (Direct-to-Fan) fandom platform that connects artists with fan communities, performances, commerce, and physical spaces. It allows fans and artists to communicate and share diverse experiences through services that bridge online and offline environments.

Registration and further details can be found on the official website for the AI GSDC, hosted by Likers (Likers.me).
